W2DR Posted July 2, 2023 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Here I sit. An old man thinking about the days gone by. And one of those thoughts is about a guy named Ira Hayes. For those who may not know who he was, he was one of the Marines in the iconic WWII photo of the flag rasing on Iwo Jima. I worked with his nephew for many years and learned so much about his life and death. R.I.P. Ira. You will never be forgotten. My favorite is "Flags of Our Fathers," with Adam Beach playing Hayes. In every movie, he is portrayed sympathetically.
