Black buildings again…

Recommended Posts

Good morning from Germany.

I am building my home cockpit and just finished the 3-projector-screen setup, using P3D V5.2, FlyElise and ProsimA320.

I installed my Orbx files in a library outside of P3D.

Then, on first test, the scenery looks blurry, runways and city buildings appear black and without structure.

Some runways, however, pickup details when i get nearer. Then the black texture changes into structure and details. But most of it stays black when i fly over them.

I tried to find some information in this forum, but i could not find a working solution.

Could need some advice here…

cheers,

Rick

No answers yet....

I did survey the forum and tried nearly all that i could find, no changes.

Could it be helpful to install the libraries into the p3d folder, and not outside? I read somewhere, that this could solve my blurry picture and also the black buildings and airports

Hello,

what are the specifications of the PC that generates the images and what are you asking of it please?

You can see the specs of the PC in my signature.

I9-10900K @ 3,7 GHz, 64Gb RAM, Win10-pro uptodate, GeForce GTX3090, 2x Samsung SSD 980 1TB, Samsung C49HG9, P3DV5.2 HF1, Orbx, Justsim EDDL

I just see those blurry views und black buildungs and aeroports when i do a testflight with the standard F22.

Hello,

those details are in your profile "About me" box, if you would prefer them to be in your signature, you will need to move them into the signature box.

Evidently your hardware is state of the art and unlikely to be the problem, although the symptoms you describe are those that might be expected of a system that was struggling to keep up.

Have you yet tried renaming Prepar3D.cfg and seeing how it works with a default version?

Hello,

C:\Users\your user account name\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\Prepar3D.cfg

The Appdata folder is hidden by default so you might need to set

"Show hidden files, folders and drives" in Windows File Explorer view settings.

Now, i did delete the P3D.cfg. First, it caused the deactivation of my viewgroups, not a problem. A TestFlight shows better surroundings, but still with severe stuttering. Looking at my FPS, a was shocked to see an FPS of 10 max…..

Any idea how to get this number up?

I include a picture of my taskmanager-performance . What is wondering me is the nearly zero use of the (mighty) 3090 card, and the 100% usage of the CPU….

Hello,

I see that the onboard graphics are enabled.

Could the simulator be using that instead of the 3090?

I disconnected the onboard GPU, without any changes. Could it be, that i need to „tell“ my system, that the 3090 GPU should do the job? During flight, my main CPU is doing 99 % of the processing, the GPU max.  4%

On the first page of the P3d Options/Graphics, Does the top right box show your RTX 3090 in use? (Particularly for Full Screen?)I guess you used the 3090 to set up your View group? What resolution are you using for each of the screens in your view group?

As Nick says, you should post a few shots of your settings.

Hello,

thank you for going to all that trouble.

Your system should be able to run those settings with ease.

I wonder what might happen if you were to increase them all, especially the "Image and texture quality" to their maximum?

The main problem is the stuttering, i cannot get more then 9-10 FPS, i think that is also causing the slow rendering. When i pause the simulator above a „black“ airfield, the picture will build up to normal in seconds….

Some damned setting is wrong. I trie today to implement Process Lasso. And try some ajustments with „affinity mask“ If you have any ideas, please say the word….

cheers

Two things to look out for that helped me.

1/ Delete the ShadersHLSL folder in the P3D root directory and then reinstall the hotfix.

https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/601696-shader-mod-remnants-serious-performance-hit-in-v52/

2/ Make sure that you have not set a max frame rate in the Nvidia Control Panel.

I adjusted the max framerate in NVidia control panel to max. Then the stutters were a lot better, but not completely gone….

I adjusted the sliders from medium to extreme, without much difference in stutters.

Funny, i cannot callup the FPS with „shift-Z“ anymore. I believe Computers are like women…..

Hello,

computers are totally logical and obey every command that they are given.

If all the women, or indeed people, that you have met were like that then you have been extremely fortunate.

I understand that the failure of the Shift + Z function was something that affected some

users and not others and that it is one of the minor issues addressed by the recently

released P3D v5.2 hotfix.

As Nick alluded to, make sure you have updated 5.2 with the hotfix. Shift Z works fine for me.

My last bit of advice is untick Vector, if you have it installed. That was the difference for me of a flat Philippines and then bang, the place came alive with 3D houses, palm trees etc. the way it was meant to look.

Give it a try, nothing to lose as you can just tick the box again to get it back.
