Don Whyte
I recently installed Orbx scenery into P3D v5. Somehow the trees just don't look like I expected. I installed the Orbx products into a library and have verified all files. https://imgur.com/ogw6fzk Here's the same area in P3D v3 with the same Orbx products installed. https://imgur.com/3Sd6NB6 I'm a recent V5 user and I am surprised that the trees look so hokey. Respectfully, I was hoping Orbx would fix it.
Don Whyte
To clarify, the trees look the same to me in P3D v5 with or without Orbx scenery. I was hoping the installation of Orbx would improve the P3D v5 trees. I was able to copy and paste the above images, a mountainous area east of Vancouver B.C. Holger Sandmann
Hi Don, by default, the SpeedTree 3D models are activated in P3D. Unchecking the "Dynamic 3D Autogen Vegetation" checkbox and restarting the sim will return the "legacy" models and textures. Cheers, Holger
Don Whyte
thanks for responding Holger. I tried unchecking the "Dynamic 3D Autogen Vegetation" but the trees looked unchanged. So I turned them off completely by setting the Autogen vegetation density to None. It looks more acceptable now. I'd like to experiment with/without Orbx scenery to see how the scenery looks generally. Regards Don
Nick Cooper
Hello, one must restart the simulator to see the change.
Don Whyte
Ah yes, now I see the proper vegetation. What a great improvement, the Orbx trees are much more realistic. This is all spelled out in the Trees User Manual. I'm always complaining about the lack of manuals for software. Guess I should read what's available! Thanks guys, just super. I think you can call this resolved. Regards Don
