Double taxiway markings at PAVD Valdez

Hello Ben,

there should be no need to disable any files in SAK to see this airport as its developer intended.

In fact sometimes disabling files can cause rather than solve problems.

Which version of P3D v4.5 are you using please?

As a reference, here is what I see in version 4.5.13.32097

Hello Nick,

It was a trial on error. I indeed can enable the files again.

I have version 4.5.13.32097 of P3D.

Can REX Texture Direct or Airports HD interfere with it?

Also Whangarei has this issue. FTX NZNI and NZWR installed:

Cheers,

Ben.

Hello Ben,

in a standard installation of Orbx in P3D v4.5.13.32097, the Vector AEC files do not seem to

influence the airport elevations any more, as the elevation adjustment files do not either.

Essentially, in the case of airport elevations, the scenery library is now read from the top down,

so the highest airport version will determine the elevation.

P3D does not look any further once it finds the topmost airport file and sets the elevation to the

value stored in that file.

I see no anomalies at all with SAK, PAVD and of course the Orbx Libraries only active in the

scenery library. You might restore all the files to the Orbx default and then try that and see if it

looks as it should. Make sure that there is nothing else at all, not even in addon scenery.

Nick thanks for to answer.

Whangarei is resolved by disabling the FTX NZNI NZWR files.

Then I did a verify in ORBX Central on Libraries, SAK and PAVD. The problem there still remains.

A strange thing is, that only the Runway Holding Position Markings of PAVD are double on all three holding points.

Hi Nick.

Hi Nick,

Thank you.

The second Runway Holding Position Markings are still visible.

The high contrast stripes are the ones which do not belong there.

The slightly bland markings are the good ones but mirrored (broken bars should face the runway).

I tried to get the same image as yours. The double marking is visible.

BTW, look at the taxi light (arrow) which is missing in your capture. It's also floating above the ground but that's not really visible here.

Hello Nick,

See post #10 for the latest info.

Hi Nick,

The double markings are there. Zoom in and look between the two arrows:

2020-1-2_11-26-53-276_2.thumb.jpg.e35786a0ae99e19e73cb29c49c648dfb.jpg

Furthermore, I see no shadows of the lights in your captures. Turn that shadow on to see that maybe it's offset in your sim too.

Shadows are the best reference to see weather something is floating or not. In my case, the shadows on the three lights indicate that those hit the ground. The other lights on the edge have an offset shadow, unfortunately not good visible here but if you look carefully, you see that the shadow of the edge light under the plane is missing due to that offset.

That BTW, seems to be the same issue as I have with Juneau some time ago. See here. I wonder if those airports are fully compatible with the latest version of P3D since I see writings about Vector AEC not working/needed(?) anymore. Those payware airfields need update then?

Cheers,

Ben/

Hello Ben,

I have tried everything that I can think of to break the payware PAVD in the way that

yours is broken and I have failed.

This is what I see.

2020-1-3_13-59-52-955.jpg

Your problem has all the marks of there being a second airport active in the same place, in respect of the extra markings only.

I can indeed see what you mean about the taxiway light.

As I do not use shadows, I do not see this myself, unless I simulate crawling on the ground, like this:

2020-1-3_14-4-30-409.jpg

Your developers in this case are @Marcus Nyberg and Philip Schall.

Nick,

Thanks again for your help and patience.

I'm also thinking of a conflicting scenery but I can't figure out what. So far, I've searched for PAVD files. Maybe I, or one of the developers should look in a different direction regarding scenery.

I'm glad you can confirm the floating edge lights. I often take screen shots at a low position as I do with real planes in real life. I like the angle.

Thanks for tagging Marcus on this. I hope he finds the time to chime in.

Cheers,

Ben.

Hi there!

Hope you both had a nice holiday!

So, as for the floating edge lights. I think they might be slightly floating, we did that to make sure there would be no flickering with the ground textures. Nowadays we have better ways of doing these things but yeah this was a few years back. I hope you can enjoy the scenery anyways but I think they might stay slightly floating for the time being.

As for the hold-short double textures I was surprised to see that I actually also had that issue. I'm not sure what has changed in the newer sims, but looking at the AFCAD I can see that the hold-short is set to show so I'll include a new .bgl that you can just replace the old one with that should remove those hold-short lines if you still have them.

I wonder though why this happens as the ground layers should cover that and everyone does not seem to have the same issue.

Anyway here it is!

Replace the one in the Pavd/Scenery folder,

Cheers,

Marcus

Hello Marcus,

Happy new year!

The BGL indeed solved the problem thank you very much!

I noticed another issue while testing: morphing textures (see arrow). That hard edge is following the helicopter.

Sorry I can answer it right away if there hasnt been a new topic yet as there isnt much to say.

Due to how we made the airport this is an issue that occurs as we handpainted a top layer for the ground to make it look sharper and when it loads the ground this effect can occur.

If I would have done the airport today with the knowledge I have now, I would have had approached it differently but it's just the way it is, sorry.
