MAAJR57
There is a tree in the corner of the taxiways on the south side of L52 Oceano that causes a crash every time I taxi passed it.
Doug Sawatzky
Hi Do you mean this tree at the north end of the airfield?
MAAJR57
Yes Sir. That's the one. Seems to be slightly overhanging the taxiway in my sim. My Oceano is from P3D Southern CA. Sorry, should have been more specific in the original post.
Doug Sawatzky
Thanks The solution would be to turn off crash detection in the simulator.
MAAJR57
What kind of solution is that? There is an issue with that tree. There should be no crash if there is no contact. The sim is detecting contact with that tree when there is none.
Doug Sawatzky
Yes, crash detection is a flawed feature (Gimmick) of the core simulator and was conceived before the evolution of 3rd party addons started becoming popular, and it does nothing to add realism. Developers have always done their best to accommodate it, but there are many instances where it is not possible with the ever more complex addons being developed, so it is probably not economically feasible for them to waste their precious creative time trying to fully accommodate a very unpopular broken feature. I believe that most flight simmers would never tolerate a flawed crash detection feature that would shut down their experience without their consent, they know when they have crashed. I also believe that if the ability to turn it off did not exist, the flight simming business would also not exist. So, I guess another way to see the reality of it is that some modern addons are simply not going to be fully compatible with ancient features. Nick Cooper
Hello, I have removed the tree. Please try the attached files, which you should place in FTX_NA\FTX_NA_SCA05_SCENERY\scenery and let them overwrite. For the record, the fact that you can taxi past a tree and despite not touching it, have the simulator display that you have crashed, is more a sign that the crash simulation is broken than that there is "an issue with that tree". MAAJR57
Thanks Nick! Haven't been here in a while. Just discovered your post and replaced the files. Will test when I get a chance but I have no doubt you fixed the problem.
