Blue, Gold Etc?

OK, I have the Global Base Pack...Yet I see some airports state that they require Blue, Gold, etc., regions...So, do they really or has Global Base made these redundant? If they indeed do need Blue, etc, will they all co-exist with no difficulties? Thanks a lot!

Orbx's payware airports are designed to be used with the "region" scenery that they are in, or with FTX Global Base, as noted on their respective product pages.

FTX Global Base does not replace a FTX terrain region.

You can purchase and install an airport that requires a region, even if you don't have the region installed.

However you may find some issues.

You may experience some elevation issues, since most regions include mesh and the airport is designed to sit on that mesh.  There may be some roads, rivers, or power lines at the scenery boundary that don't match up, since you won't have those vector items from the prerequisite region.  There may be some other minor issues too.

The airport's textures blending in with the surrounding scenery may be the most obvious issue, especially with default scenery.

Regions can have unique textures, so even with FTX Global Base installed, you may find some airport textures not blending in perfectly, but it should look much better than with the default textures.

Each airport is different and some may honestly look quite good, and have minimal issues, while others may have more noticeable issues.

So it's OK to install both "Blue, Gold" etc and Global Base and PNW, CRM, and so on?...So, to make it simple, any or all Orbx addons can be installed without interfering with each other? Thanks, but it is confusing!

Yes, they can all be installed and don't interfere with each other.

The "Regions" (NA Pacific Northwest, EU England, ...) will take precedence over the FTX Global products (FTX Global Base, Vector, openLC NA & EU).

Just FYI,

Here is a pic from Orbx's FTX Definitive Guide that illustrates how P3D scenery is layered and how Orbx products fit in.

The Orbx Definitive Guide goes into more detail and has pictures too.  Here is the link to get it.
