Tom Charles
Hi. Probably a simple answer but I need to know. Just reinstalled P3D v4.3. Downloaded and ran FTX Central and installed Global Base and Vector. Question : when must I run airport elevation tool? Now, before I load new regions eg. Europe, England, Netherlands True Earth, or after I install my purchase products? The only 3rd party add-on I have is Fly Tampa EHAM. Thank you
Doug Sawatzky
Hi Tom Always run it after you install products or make changes. Cheers Doug

Nick Cooper
Hello, did you install P3D to a folder or direct to a drive?
Tom Charles
Hello again Nick. I installed it to a drive. Drive e.....no folder.
Nick Cooper
Thanks. In that circumstance, the Vector auto configuration will indeed never complete. You could uninstall P3D, create a folder and reinstall to that folder, such as E:\P3D v4, or if everything else works, just use the manual configuration and save a profile each time. It is never good practice to install any software to the root of a drive..
Tom Charles
Thank you Nick. I did not know that. (even though I worked for IBM as a programmer / operator in Jhb from 1969 to 1972 - things were simpler then!) I suppose that is why my Orbx sceneries do not work...they seemed to install to a %temp% file or suchlike. Then. when I started P3D it stopped loading scenery at 65%. Even following Poppet's advice I got nowhere. Ok - I'll start again. Dank je wel Tom
Nick Cooper
Thanks, I don't know why the Vector auto configuration should react in this way but so far, everyone who has reported that it never finishes has also installed to the root of the drive. The Orbx sceneries do use the Windows temp folder for the installation process but should install to an ORBX folder inside the FSX or P3D root folder. Dirk62
I to have the same problem and I have installed p3d to a folder on my A: drive and it still runs for ever regards Dirk Nijdam
Doug Sawatzky
Hi Dirk Please confirm by trying to run the tool from your P3D\ORBX\Vector folder.. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling the P3D client only. If you are still having issue, then please start your own new topic. Tom Charles
Hi Doug and Nick. Thank you for your advice. Reinstalled P3D to e drive - Folder Lockheed Martin.. Working great. Now, I want to install FTX Global Base, then Vector then Europe etc... When must I run the AEC in settings? After each installation...i.e.. After Global Base, then After Vector, then after Europe etc.? Sorry if it seems a silly question. Regards, Tom
Nick Cooper
Hello Tom, there is no such thing here as a silly question, if you don't know the answer, that question is always valid. The recommendation is that you should run the AEC auto configuration after adding or removing an airport in your scenery library. If the product is not an airport, then there is no need.
