holger.abend
Hi, i am using FSX SE and have seen many videos and images with a great "earth". Now i am at the point of: I want also have such a great terrain. I did some research on the internet and identified a some interesting improvement software. I'm thinking about buying FTX Global Base, FTX Global Vector, openLC Europe. How strong would be the impact on the performance? At the moment I have an I5-2500K with 8GB Ram with a GTX 560. I am flying with the Aerosoft Airbus 318-321, which consumes most performace. Addons: Dash 8 Q400 Aerosoft Airbuses Simwings London Heathrow Xtended Aerosoft Mega Airports (LSZH and LPPT) Are there any compatibility issues with my addons? Thx and KR Holger
Stewart Hobson
Both your CPU and GPU really should be updated before you start running FSX-SE with complicated airliners and airports, and then add FTX scenery to the mix. You will find your computer simply won't manage the load.
holger.abend
Hi Stewart, thanks for your respsonse. I'm fine with my current setup, thats no problem from a performance perspective. I think the limiting factor is the CPU (even with its 3.3 GHZ), isn't it? Do you have any recommendation for a new configuration? Thx and KR
Bruce Hamilton
Don't worry about your system, Holger. Your Aerosoft buses will kill your frames more than anything you'll find here.
Nick Cooper
You might consider an overclock for your i5 2500k. I had a (liquid cooled) i5 2500k which ran quite happliy at 4.4 ghz. Also, the *70 and *80 versions of Nvidia's graphics cards are always much stronger than the *60 versions. But the overclock will cost nothing unless you upgrade your cooling and even then very little.
