  1. Hi Again Mark

Whoops - I only use Wifi accessories when using X Box - ( my House TV and X Box are well away from Me and the WI FI X Box controller)

    - so  I need to use a Windows X Box WI FI Hub - which is then connected to the PC by USB.

I am assuming what the article refers to as a "Honeycombe X Box Hub @ $30" will be something simliar

""Please note, the old Alpha yoke will be discontinued.

According to Nicki Repenning, CEO of Honeycomb Aeronautical, the updates to the yoke are mostly internal for adding Xbox Series X|S compatibility""

No mention of "Unsupported' - and I made the assumption that that the current Alpha will be just the same as Bravo and Charlie -

which will be for both PC and X Box Series X using said X Box Hub.

Maybe I am misinterpreting something - but I did correspond with the Marketing guy at key aero some while ago and he advised me to buy Alpha now as I would be able to use it on the NEW X BOX - he didnt say how however:o

Good news, although it also says that the current Alpha yoke will not be compatible and will be discontinued in favour of the new XBox-compatible one :(

    HI Mark

I read it this way --- yes - the current Alpha will stop in favour of a new  (mk2) Alpha that is the just same as the old one -

with just a few Mods to enable it to plug straight into an X Box - and have a "Quiet X Logo-- but it will still serve PCs - so A1 or A2 for both PC and X Box

I would expect that the same will happen to Bravo and Charlie - because it makes sense not to duplicate aps - but have them available to both PC and Console in view of the potential High Market for the X Box as well as the Current PC

The existing Alpha for PC  - and the Bravo and Charlie aps) - will work on the new X Box

via the use of an X Box 'Hub' - presumably - similiar to the Hub used now to enable MS X Box controllers

be used in a PC - eg for the drone in MSFS

  3. My Mail above about the new Honeycombe Hardware for X Box Series X - only leads me even more to my queries around Orbx plans

for the sim on this console.

MSFS produced 1 Million downloads in the first month - how will that compare to the volume of new X Boxes

in the Market?? - Only Orbx knows what effect this sim has produced on its own market with the apparent success

of London and Sydney scenery and partnership participations.

Contemplate what the market might be around - if the new X box Sim - will run on the current 4K HDR 10 - X Box one X ????

that I already use on my 4K HDR 10 monitor

Not only NEW hardware specific to Single Joystick and twin throttle controller - but a simple piece of hardware  - the X box  Hub

that will allow those of us - who have - or are buying the current Alpha/Bravo hardware - to use it on the new console.

Hopefully also on the existing X Box One X - then I can have 2 consoles going with the flight sim :o

What's the betting Thrustmaster are also working flat out to modify the similar Airbus series they recently brought out

They did it for the Thrustmaster Hotas last year - already used in PS3/4 and PC

The market will grow even more - and not only from the "gamers" - but since more flight simming hardware is now available

then more of our kind of simmer will go for it as opposed to high expenditure on PC capability.

    The simple sum is Alpha yoke $220 + Beta Throttle - $200 - pedals $ 200 + X Box $ 500 - Vs - $x000 for one video card / CPU

Would these hardware moves specifically for a console - tempt Eagle to rewrite DSC for both consoles ? - I won't mention IL-2

I should live that long - and I do hope that I can take all my stuff into God's Waiting room when the time comes:rolleyes:

  4. As I forecast a few weeks ago - Honeycombe have released details of their new Hardware for the X Box Series X

consisting of Flight stick - Throttle controls - and Pedals - which - seemingly - work with both PC and X Box

Details are on FS Elite - but the photos are useless.

The other good news is that the current Alpha Yoke  and the new Bravo throttles can be used with the

X Box using a special bought X Box Hub

No word yet on the sim for X Box yet - but the release info shows that we will need to wait for the hardware

into the middle of 2021 which will give this X boxer time to save up for what will be a large cash layout for all 3

    - but when compared to a new PC - its chicken feed.

However - I will be using the Alpha and the Bravo on my PC in the meantime - and get the hub when available.

Well I made it to 87 this week and continue to work with the AI vessels for MSXX.  Having a little bit

of luck but nothing to get excited about.

Many congratulations -Old Chap- you are just 2 up on me.

Here's hoping we both will still be around when MSXX  - "WAKES" - up to AI vessels ;)

    Awesome!

    Thank you for your support.

Exactly. Just yesterday I flew from Addis Ababa to Mogadishu over OpenLC Africa. 8)

How strange - yesterday I too took a similar OLC Africa flight  - Cairo to Djbouti - Dassault FA 50 -

O/Night - refueling - to continue today - to Nairobi via Addis Ababa -- and thence to South Africa.

Next month's pension will buy the VC 10 - then I can replicate the BA London flights to Capetown

and the EA flights  on a similar route.

I'm using a GTX1660ti with 6GB vram and an i5-9600k - don' know nuthin' 'bout no Baron - that was a Turbo Otter.

Good I use the same CPU and an 8GB vram

as to the Baron - I was referring to your later pics of the smokey ones -

that were brilliant in my colour blind - cataract - filled EyesB)

If you swing over to the 'screenshot' thread I've posted a couple of Vulkan shots, one featuring the Vflyte turbo Otter.  From what I've seen so far the rendering is noticeably improved and, though my frames are locked at 30, it's smooth as glass.  I have always thought that XP11 presents the Orbx TE scenery at its best.

Now that has got me interested - and I do agree TE has always been been better with XP - but somehow -

I couldn't get XP to give a picture with 4K - but since I had to revert to HD (1080) for P3D and MSFS - that is no longer Important

These shots were very good - 2 questions - what is the RAM of your video card - was that the standard Baron in XP

While all you gents are dealing with your '2020's' and 'P3D's', I'm financially committed to XP 11.50 which I'm pleased to say has, thus far, presented no problems though their much maligned (betas) were certainly food for thought.

So disappointed with MSFS - and the move across to P3D V5 is not to my liking in the scenery front

for low and slow - that I am actually contemplating reinstalling the new version of XP.

I realize Vulcan etc are a performance upgrade - but how have the sceneries (Orbx TE) come through

the change - and the same question with the aircraft - EG - I have the V flyte stable of A/C and the TE series

  10. There is a very simple answer here - "Chalk and Cheese"

Orbx TE is designed for P3D V4 - and does not port very well to V5

Fly  - Low and Slow - this is what you get ------- at 30000 feet - it's not that bad

Remember - V5 came out of the blue - little warning to everyone - and give us a NEW  sim

It is an Impossibility to Expect Orbx TE to work in a different environment

i.e  DX 11 ----- DX 12 without a hell of a lot of work by Orbx - and with MSFS now around

can Anyone expect that they will - even if a TE series - upgrade - was Payware ??

All complaints change;  someone tells us how to fix it, or it fixes itself.  I am a happy little Vegimite, Orbx Central cured itself, and all scenery is happily reloaded in v5.  However I am hesitant to go the MSFS way until Orbx redoes the Gold Coast.

    Hi Macca

just done the same - not too keen on the new sim - more bugs than on the windscreen -

so I have installed V5 for the first time to have a look  - Central has done all my Ozzie bits and Pieces

just took a flight around home from GC and landed SPT 5 mins ago

seems ok but the colouring seems off - and over sharpened

    ow the ell r u

  12. Wouldn't it be nice if we either stop using ICAO initials and /or - use the names as well - so we can all know what you mean

to save us needing to google the names   - especially for flyers from other countries,:banghead:

Just take a look at what 90% of you correspondents have said in the foregoing - and imagine someone at Orbx

having to look them all up. Those with names - might just go to the top of the list:rolleyes:

I was once taught - "What is obvious to you - isn't necessarily obvious to someone else" !!

All of them! I do quite like to fly in my back yard though - i.e. the east coast of Australia - so definitely all of those. But if I had to call out a few:

    YBCS (Cairns)

    YMML (Melbourne)

    YBCG (Gold Coast)

YCBS (Canberra) - although this one could do with an update

    YCNK (Cessnock)

    YBTH (Bathurst)

Also be nice to have one for my home airport (Sydney), but it is one of the included "handcrafted" MSFS airports and I understand flytampa are bringing their excellent version across, so YSSY is probably getting enough love already :)

Bonus: I also have a bit of a soft spot for CYBD (Bella Coola)!

Please add YMMB Moorabbin to the list above

the one in the sim is ridiculous

That is not totally obvious... so we have to work a bit.

Australia is evident, because of the famous airline.

Flat land with trees, so no outback.

Oceania Aviation ground handling is the only specific hint I see... http://www.oceaniaaviation.com/australia-oceania-ground-handling/ . Which leaves the following airports in the list: Hervey Bay (not that much jet traffic), Brisbane (has mostly jetways), Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour. Due to the slightly intense traffic I would go for Gold (Coast)?

Blimey - I thought I had been forgotten

Sherlock - your deduction is correct - Gold Coast it is ! - well done!

Any Australian love? Melbourne and Sydney both look like well....poop

I feel like us Aussies are getting stooged

Ed has been promising Brisbane with its 2 nd runway

     - so stand by for that --- hopefully - but will it count for a discount to owners of the current :D

Personally  -  I havent seen what a mess - MS - have made with the Gold Coast A/P - but that would be on the shopping list

    Hello John,

there are two topics already, directly concerned with the new simulator and well stocked with your posts and opinions.

I am disappointed that you still feel the need to ignore my request not to litter the rest of the forum with such posts.

Ok Nick - Then please remove it

I made the wrong assumption that the OCC was somewhat different to the Gen forum and little had been forthcoming

from my peers - and I assure you that I had no intention of infringing any of your restrictions to the 2 topics.

  17. G'day - fellow old coots

What's your reaction to the youngster on the block - MSFS - sometimes called MS2020

now that the videos are coming thick and fast.

Personally - I will keep my P3D 4.5 - because it looks like I wont be able to fly my oldy birds

around in the newbie - but would love to be able to use my hangar to  create old time flight journeys  now that

MS have opened up the World for us

    - imagine the trip England to Australia over 5/6days in the Qantas Imperial Airways Sunderland/ Catalina Flying boat

Next guess from my side John: Bundaberg?

dead right Gerold - here's another view with my Citation 560XL -  literally on Lift Off

and where Orbx includes most of the town.

Bundaberg's famous Pilot was Bert Hinkler - the first man to fly solo from England to Australia

and his plane is in the local museum

  19. Ok - I won't do this again - which makes it difficult to take part in this "Game"

I have loads of photos - all over the world - taken in the 70s and 80s - but is impossible to find

one that Orbx has produced - but can find many that are included in Orbx scenery.

    .

I am often reminded that Orbx will not produce an airport specifically - if it has already been produced by others
