billhuntsman
I have tried searching the net a couple of times for VFR charts for Papua New Guinea. So far I have completely struck out, so I know this is a long shot. Does anyone know a source for purchasing charts for VFR flying in this location? Paul J
Don't know whether these will be what are needed, Bill, as I didn't open them up - but there is a page or so on the Avsim Library, the first being this file: png_charts_1.zip - folowed by a bunch more... pj
billhuntsman
Thanks, Paul. It is definitely a start. I do not have FSMap, though I might consider it if I cannot find another solution. My older computer is starting to bog down in detailed scenery areas, so I am reluctant to add something else that runs directly from FSX because of what that might do to fps. Thanks for your response. Bill
jtwillia
A while back someone recommended this site. http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/tpc/ Here's a pic of what the charts look like, this one covers the Port Moresby - Kokoda area. Heres a direct link to this chart: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/tpc/txu-pclmaps-oclc-22834566_n-15a.jpg You can't beat the price.
billhuntsman
Thanks, Jeff. I had seen that site, but had a hard time finding the specific chart I wanted. Thanks for the direct link. I will look at the original site in more detail soon. Bill
Paul J
You can browse to the Susi Air site, click on "Routes", select Papua, then zoom into their routes. It will take you right down to a sketch of a strip, on which you can left.clk for the name. Is that any closer?. It's kinda hard to guess at what you want, Bill. pj Edit: ...and then there's SkyVector : Here's two maximum zoom pics of the detail shown... teecee
For those of you that have, or will DL fsmovingmap here is a link to all of PNG maps that David Wilson-Okomua and myself converted back in 2010. They are big, but great for low and slow.. You will have to DL the three numbered files (1-2-3) FSMMM is no longer supported, but has worked fine for me for over five years.. billhuntsman
Thanks, Paul. Originally, I was looking for paper charts, but all of these suggestions have been helpful. Bill
Eric Bakker
It is not a paper map, but I use the moving map of SimlauncherX myself for PNG. This is an awesome freeware program. http://forum.avsim.net/forum/722-simlauncherx/
jtwillia
Nice charts, but very very outdated. What maps did you find that had these bush strips listed?
