Jannie Roelofse Posted September 8, 2014 Share Posted September 8, 2014 Hi, I have installed a fresh installation of FSX with SP2. Not other add-on scenery. Then I installed FTX Global 110 , and patched to 120. Then applied the latest FTXORBXLIBS_140901. I ran Process Monitor before and after FTX Global installation. Now after FTX Global installation sitting at KSEA every 2 minutes FSX cannot find these textures when it is refreshing the scenery. 011B2LMF.BMP 009B2LMF.BMP I move aircraft to FAJS, and now additionally to the above it cannot find these058B2LMF.BMP 052E2LMF.BMP Moving to different parts of the world increase the list of missing textures it cannot find. Flying across the globe for 12 hours country to country the list gets longer and longer. Surely this constant search for textures and not able to find them will ultimately grow the virtual memory usage size until FSX runs out of Virtual Memory/address space and crash due to a OOM situation? Is there a place where I can download these missing textures? This is a snippet below of what Process Explorer shows and it repeats about every 2 minutes. Meerkat Posted September 8, 2014 Share Posted September 8, 2014 Just checked my backup folder of Scenery\World\texture: there are none of the files you report as missing. In fact, the missing files are lightmap files (to show night lighting) that were completely missing in stock FSX for the texture sets 009B, 011B, 058B and 052E. The LM textures for these sets were obviously added by ORBX. And these sets contain only 15 different textures which means, there can be no texture with a name ending "F" at all. That means, either there should have been much more seeking for missing textures in stock FSX, and ORBX (at least partially) corrected these problems made by MS, or the lclookup.bgl that was changed by ORBX includes some error. As I never run process explorer together with FSX (too much missing files, I guess ) I cannot tell what it really is. But creating ground texture sets is a task of juggling with some 10000 files, so errors are not improbable. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I do not know how or what calls them, I just see in process monitor that they as constantly being searched for. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx I have uninstalled FTX-Global and reverted FSX back to original state before the FTX-Global install, and now no more searching for these file. As I mentioned, FSX -SP2 clean install and then FTX-Global 1.10 and 1.20 with latest Libraries and then FSX is constantly looking for these missing files. Virgin FSX-SP2 has no problem and not calling or searching for these files. So I can only come to the conclusion, that some FTX-Globlal scenery* .bgl or the lclookup.bgl is looking/calling these missing files. Maybe the developers can look into this and give us some light on the issue. and if it is some missing files or bad calls then a service pack can easily fix that in the future. It does look as if there's a glitch in our Global versions of lclookup for a number of classes whose lightmaps should have been set up to load 15 variants but instead were set for 16 variants. As Markus points out correctly, since the classes themselves only contain 15 variants the sim can't find the 16th lightmap. It's not a visible issue (display or fps wise) but obviously not clean coding and we'll fix that in an upcoming service pack. In the meantime I've attached "dummy" lightmap files for all affected classes that will prevent the sim from doing the repetitive, unsuccessful searches. Unzip the attached file and copy the bmp's into \Scenery\World\Texture. Thanks for the heads-up.
