luckyb52
Hi All, I have FTX Global + Vector + OpenLC Europe. I also have FTX EU ENG installed from the pre-openLC days. I'm very happy with the scenery generated by Global+Vector+OpenLC Europe. Do I lose anything by now uninstalling FTX EU ENG? (I have EGHI installed) ... Thanks in advance for your help! KSandleben
Yes you do! You lose the points of interest, the customized airfields, and the resolution of the landclass. Open LC has a 1x1km resolution, the full regions have handdrawn vector landclass that completely match the outlines of the real world. I mean really now... you think a complete package like OpenLC + Global Vector will give you a better representation than a specifically designed regional pack? It seems you have misjudged the capabilities of the the full regions.
luckyb52
But aren't OpenLC and the regional packs mutually exclusive selections on FTX Central (OpenLC is included under FTX Global)? Maybe you're not aware of this since according to your signature you have not bought OpenLC Europe...
Nick Cooper
You have three choices. Select Europe - England will display in full detail but mainland Europe will not display correctly. Select Global - Mainland Europe will display correctly but England will not. Select Global and tick Hybrid - both will display as they should. KSandleben
But aren't OpenLC and the regional packs mutually exclusive selections on FTX Central (OpenLC is included under FTX Global)? The reason for this is the regional autogen. You can use the hybrid mode and see the detailed landclass and regional textures but miss the region specific autogen. They are not exclusive, they complement each other on a global scale ( or as of now european scale). You get a fairly reasonable representation through OpenLC + Vector and the most accurate possible representatios (using the landclass technique) with the full region packs. And I stopped adding further order numbers to my signature because I learned that even one number is enough to check for all other purchases you made. So don't pay too much attention to the list in the signature.
luckyb52
KSandleben, thanks for your answer... I guess you're concurring with what Nick is saying and I will select Global and tick Hybrid. Best, Lucky /////////

luckyb52
Hi Nick, Need another bit of guidance re using OpenLC EU.... As mentioned earlier, I have, amongst other FTX products, Global, Vector, EU ENG, OpenLC EU and EGHI. Let us say I want to fly from EGHI to somewhere else in Europe. Before I launch FSX, which of the following should I do in FX Central: Click "Global", check 'Hybrid Mode', click "Apply", click "Europe", click "Apply" Click "Global", check 'Hybrid Mode', click "Europe", click "Apply" Click "Global", check 'Hybrid Mode', click "Apply" Other (pl specify) I look forward to your response, Nick --- Best, Lucky ////////

Nick Cooper
Indeed you will, the short answer is 3.Click "Global", check 'Hybrid Mode', click "Apply" To fly inside the UK, click Europe and apply. To fly in mainland Europe and not visit the UK, click Global, uncheck Hybrid and click Apply.
luckyb52
Nick, Thanks for that. Please confirm that if I were to fly only inside the UK, I would not have to click Global before clicking Europe. Thank you again for your help --- Best, Lucky /////////
Nick Cooper
Yes, you would click only Europe and then Apply.
