Rodger Pettichord
Hi. I've purchased the new Papua New Guinea/Port Moresby-bush strip package and am having trouble locating the bush strips. The map enclosed with the package shows a top view of the strip locations but not how to get there from Port Moresby. Can anyone give me the proper heading from Port Moresby to find those strips? Thanks!
Paul J
I don't know whether Plan G (http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/) has all of Orbx's PNG strips, but it does show a lot of PNG airfields, plus all of the navaids one might need for that area. pj
Ross Casey
Hi Rodger, Fly the 047 radial from Port Moresby & you'll see Kagi come in to view about 28nm. The strips are located in & around the adjacent valleys. Efogi is hidden on your right as you approach Kagi. I use this method even in poor weather & it helps me locate the strips even though at times I can't land. To get to Kokoda just climb over the ridge behind Kagi (slightly to the right where it lowers a bit) till you reach the grassy patch (old dried lake bed) turn left & you are in the Kokoda Gap. Follow the gap down to Kokoda. Hope this helps.
Tim Harris
There is AYPY and AYKO to start from, this places you at either end of the Kokoda track and leaves the 10 bush strips inbetween to be discovered, the main idea behind the package is to give the end-user an 'Experience' to enjoy, this is why we provided 30+ airports in the package Provided with the PNG package is a detailed GoogleEarth KML which serves as your virtual-guide, drag and drop this into google earth to view, you find it in FSX/ORBX/User Documents or on the PNG website https://www.fullterrain.com/product/ftxgaypy Also an thread here on finding them http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/80975-aypy-finding-the-bush-strips/ And a thread devoted to which one is hardest http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/81160-kokoda-track-so-which-bush-strip-is-the-hardest/
Rodger Pettichord
Hi to responders! Sorry about my delay in relying--I only have internet access at a local library and can visit only once or twice a week. Thanks for the helpful advice. With your help, I'm sure I can now find my way to the bush strips. Best regards to you.
