Mallard
Not really an addon - but I've been getting so many questions on my SweetFX settings that I've decided to air them here (or should this go in the Tips Tricks & Techniques part of the forum?). Hope you have as much fun with them as I had in creating this setup Cheers Mallard #define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 1#define SMAA_THRESHOLD 0.06#define SMAA_MAX_SEARCH_STEPS 3#define SMAA_MAX_SEARCH_STEPS_DIAG 6#define SMAA_CORNER_ROUNDING 100#define COLOR_EDGE_DETECTION 1#define SMAA_DIRECTX9_LINEAR_BLEND 0#define USE_LUMASHARPEN 1#define sharp_strength 1.62#define sharp_clamp 0.06#define pattern 1#define offset_bias 0.00#define show_sharpen 0#define USE_BLOOM 1#define BloomThreshold 20.40#define BloomPower 0.47#define BloomWidth 0.06#define USE_HDR 1#define HDRPower 0.94#define radius2 0.80#define USE_TECHNICOLOR 1#define TechniAmount 0.04#define TechniPower 4.63#define redNegativeAmount 0.91#define greenNegativeAmount 0.85#define blueNegativeAmount 1.00#define USE_DPX 1#define Red 9.33#define Green 9.29#define Blue 5.44#define ColorGamma 1.69#define DPXSaturation 2.34#define RedC 0.31#define GreenC 0.34#define BlueC 0.34#define Blend 0.10#define USE_LIFTGAMMAGAIN 1#define RGB_Lift float3(0.95,0.92,0.92)#define RGB_Gamma float3(1.14,1.13,1.12)#define RGB_Gain float3(1.06,1.05,1.05)#define USE_TONEMAP 1#define Gamma 1.11#define Exposure -0.10#define Saturation -0.03#define Bleach 0.17#define Defog 0.00#define FogColor float3(0.54,0.54,0.55)#define USE_VIBRANCE 0#define Vibrance 0.30#define USE_CURVES 1#define Curves_contrast 0.04#define Curves_formula 3#define USE_SEPIA 1#define ColorTone float3(1.00,1.00,1.00)#define GreyPower 1.00#define SepiaPower 0.93#define USE_VIGNETTE 0#define VignetteRadius 1.00#define VignetteAmount -1.00#define VignetteSlope 8#define VignetteCenter float2(0.50,0.50)#define USE_DITHER 1#define USE_SPLITSCREEN 0#define splitscreen_mode
Orbxtreme
Thanks, very generous of you. I know you spent a long time on that.
Vonduck
Hi Mallard, I tried the settings but they were very dark... Whats the base sweetfx settings you use?
Mallard
Hi Doug, I used FlightFX to come up with these variables. Honestly don't know if they have a different preset to start out with... I also have everything (bloom, etc.) ticked in FSX. Cheers Mallard

moonman
Thank You very much for sharing Mallard! Certainly gonna give these settings a try one day, when real life gives me a brake so that i can check out the sim and go flying again!
Jocko Flocko
I love your settings, it really brings out the colours in the sky and adds a very nice hue to the atmosphere in FSX. However after about 15 minutes SweetFX causes FSX to crash with DX11.DLL. I used to run SweetFX all of the time before getting into P3D and I really only use FSX now for my PMDG aircraft, do you have any idea why this might be happening? I'm running in DirectX 10 mode using Steve's DX10 fixer, what version of SweetFX are you using?

Do you have some old ENB files somewhere in your FSX folder? I know that that caused all kinds of heartache on my end I'm running version 1.4 by the way... RickD
Hi Mallard, I tried your settings. Took me while to get used to them because they are quite extreme compared to the ones I previously used. But now I love em. Perfect for flying on a nice summer day in California. I was wondering though if you plan to make a version with a colder color temperature (more blue than red) for flying in Alaska? Or maybe you could point me to which values to experiment with since you seem to be the expert here. Thanks!
Mallard
I was wondering though if you plan to make a version with a colder color temperature (more blue than red) for flying in Alaska? I was indeed thinking about a "colder" set for winter flying... I can't point you to the values that have to be changed right away, as I try all my settings "on the fly". Generally I guess it should start with less sepia and less green and redNegativeAmount (blue is already maxed). But the Techniamount really has quite a heavy effect on the whole setup, so a change there can alter everything. Then I'll probably go with a bit more bleach and play with the saturation. And then I'll just start all over again, because it all got bunged up... Cheers Mallard
Vora
The simplest way would be to just switch off the "warm" SweetFX settings with a keystroke - the default shaders are actually pretty nice for "cold" surroundings (at least in P3D).
Mallard
You can of course just turn the effects off - but there are all kinds of other more or less subtle settings (HDR, depth of shadows and sharpness levels) that would also go down the drain (at least in FSX).
