Hi FS-friends,

I just installed ORBX NA Gold but now i see everywhere black boxes!!

Even the SP.1 installed and the latest libraries.

I also have PNW, NRM, PFJ installed but never saw this before.

What went wrong and how to solve this.

Can anybody help?

Greetings,

I'll have to leave this to the devs to look at but it sounds like there are some textures not being accessed.  Unless it's the DX10 lights problem in which case you might need to use DX9 instead.  Plenty of posts here with more info.

Hi Tom,

see this thread: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/81199-black-squares-in-directx-10-preview-mode/

You can use Nick's work-around to deactivate our lighting system, or switch back to DX9.

Hopefully, Steve's DX10 fixer will become available again at some point.

Cheers, Holger

Hi Holger,

Thanks for the information so far. I will try Nick's work-around.

Today i searched for Steve's DX10 fixer at the flightsimstore but there was no product anymore. Is this right?

Greetings,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Steve has withdrawn sales of his DX10 fixer "for personal reason" though he also stated he might reconsider in the future. Thus, it's a good idea to keep an eye on his blog -- https://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/ -- and also his dedicated support forum at Avsim.

Speaking of his blog I noticed that he posted something yesterday with the title "FTX Global Lights". I'm not sure I understand this correctly but it seems to suggest that one could insert additional code into his freeware tweaks that may make our 3D lights work: https://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/2014/07/08/ftx-global-lights/

Cheers, Holger

Hi Holger,

I will check your last sentence about Steve's blog.

Yesterday i tried your advice about Nick's work-around to deactivate the lighting system and it worked. ::) The black boxes are gone.

Ofcourse i prefer the 3D-lighting so i will take a look at what he posted.

Thanks so far and keep on doing the good work!!

Cheers Tom
