Maximark
I am trying to start FTX Central and I get the following error. Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. the last line in the exception text reads at System.Window.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(intPtr hWnd, Int32msg, IntPtr... any clues to why this would be coming up or how to reset so FTX Central will start?? Thanks Mark

Filippo Nesi
Hi, I bought FTX Global base on Saturday and downloaded the install package (OrbxFTXGlobal110) from Flight Sim Store. However I could not install FTX Global properly yet. I am having the same problem reported above by other users: 1. I get an "Unhandled exception" error message when I try to launch FTX Central. 2. Based on the error message text, apparently the program is unable to access/write in "Backup\BLDA2.dds" 3. The folder "Backup" only contains the file "BLDA2.dds". Is this normal? I don't think so. 4. This is my first FTX Global installation, I never used it before and I don't have other FTX regions or products. 5. Following suggestions on other similar topics, I downloaded and installed the update patch OrbxFTXGlobal120 and FTXORBXLIBS_131215, but this did not solve the problem. I tried to uninstall completely the product with FTX Global Uninstaller following the appropriate instructions provided, then to reinstall, but at no avail. Apparently several users are being reporting the same issue in the last days in different topics, for example: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/72329-ftx-central-start-up-issues/http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/61978-unhandled-exception-in-ftx-global/?hl=%2Bvalidation+%2Bthread#entry566176 Regards Le informazioni su come richiamare il debug JIT (Just-In-Time) anziché questa finestra sono riportate in fondo al messaggio.************** Testo dell'eccezione **************System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Accesso al percorso 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ORBX\Scripts\Backup\BLDA2.dds' negato.in System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)in System.IO.File.InternalCopy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite)in System.IO.File.Copy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite)in FTXCentral.FTX_Environment.CopyBuildRestoreBat()in FTXCentral.FTX_Environment.ApplyRegionChanges()in FTXCentral.FTXC.Apply()in FTXCentral.FTXC.lblApplyButton_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e)in System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e)in System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks)in System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m)in System.Windows.Forms.Label.WndProc(Message& m)in System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)in System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)************** Assembly caricati **************mscorlibVersione assembly: 2.0.0.0Versione Win32: 2.0.50727.5472 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------FTXCentralVersione assembly: 1.0.4.0Versione Win32: 1.0.4.0----------------------------------------Microsoft.VisualBasicVersione assembly: 8.0.0.0Versione Win32: 8.0.50727.5420 (Win7SP1.050727-5400)----------------------------------------SystemVersione assembly: 2.0.0.0Versione Win32: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.Windows.FormsVersione assembly: 2.0.0.0Versione Win32: 2.0.50727.5468 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.DrawingVersione assembly: 2.0.0.0Versione Win32: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.Runtime.RemotingVersione assembly: 2.0.0.0Versione Win32: 2.0.50727.5420 (Win7SP1.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.ConfigurationVersione assembly: 2.0.0.0Versione Win32: 2.0.50727.5476 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.XmlVersione assembly: 2.0.0.0Versione Win32: 2.0.50727.5476 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------tndabcd8Versione assembly: 1.0.4.0Versione Win32: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.CoreVersione assembly: 3.5.0.0Versione Win32: 3.5.30729.5420 built by: Win7SP1----------------------------------------qhkrvfrhVersione assembly: 1.0.4.0Versione Win32: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------mscorlib.resourcesVersione assembly: 2.0.0.0Versione Win32: 2.0.50727.5472 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.Windows.
Followed the advice in the second thread mentioned by Spoiler, Wolter's advice to change the read only on the FSX file folder and then installed the latest libraries and that appears to have worked. Thanks everyone.
Maximark
Thanks Paddler, I will try that tonight, although I don't think there are any rights issues (I have FSX installed to C:\MyGames\FSX and I did try the latest libraries last night. Filippo Nesi
Solved.1. Uninstalled FTX Global completely. 2. Followed instructions on how to remove the tick from the Read-only option on the main FSX folder 3. Reinstalled 1.10 pack4. Installed the upgrade patch 1.205. Installed the new orbxlibs 131215 Apparently FTX is wotking properly now.
Maximark
Hey I just checked the folder properties for my FTX folders and they were all set to read only. I am not using the c:/program files (x86) folder to stay away from rights issues. THE ONLY WAY these folders would install with READ ONLY is if the install was made with those rights ALREADY set that way. You need to get your install team to change that. Mark still checking to see if this will work - not sure who changed this to solved???
Ed Correia
Hi Mark, Couple of things, have you installed the latest Orbxlibs? Also, the error is displayed in the first few lines under ************** Exception Text ************** could you paste that here (just the first 5 lines should do). And in regards to your order number, where's that from and what products do you have installed?
Maximark
Sorry Ed, not sure where the order# came from but I looked up my emails and pasted the correct ones in my signature. ************** Exception Text ************** System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at FTXCentral.FTXC.DisplayRegionList() at FTXCentral.FTXC.InitAll() at FTXCentral.FTXC.Timer1_Tick(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.OnTick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.TimerNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) I had trouble removing the Read Only attribute - it always seemed to turn back on did the libraries update still getting the error. Ed Correia
Ok, thanks for the order numbers Mark. This should fix it for you, go to the ORBX\Scripts\FTXCentral\Regions folder, locate the LastAppliedConfig.ftx file and delete it. But, before deleting it, could you do me a favour? Open it with notepad and paste the contents here please. This has occurred to a few people and would like to see why. Cheers
