Dieter
When placing an aircraft directly to Bozeman/KBZN the scenery always displays deep winter season with snow even when choosing high summer season. From bird's view I have a white winter tile displayed in the area. (installed is ORBX CRM+all patches and fixes, KBZN airport not installed/FSX+Acc,Win7 64b) When flying from "outside" -for example from Baxter Strip/MT82- to Bozeman the scenery displays "normal" (season I chose) This has nothing to do with the 2 patches. The problem is already there with basic CRM software. I wonder if there is any idea?
Holger Sandmann
Hi Dieter, only thing I can think of is that your flight includes a weather situation with snowfall. Flight weather is embedded in a saved flight scenario and any snowfall will force the area surrounding the user to hard winter regardless of season. Dieter
Well, Holger, I always start my FSX with standard aircraft, cold and dark cockpit, standard airfield is Meigs/Chicago, weather clear. (no snowfall) This is my saved standard flight sitution that is loaded when I start simulator. Now, if I place my plane at KBZN I have above described problem. It does not happen when I place the plane at MT82 which is about 60 NM north east of KBZN. It also does not happen when I now fly from MT82 to KBZN. If my flight weather had snowfall embedded I think this problem would be at any chosen airport, wouldn't it?
Holger Sandmann
Hi Dieter, not sure what else it could be then, I can't think of anything else other than weather and season triggering hard winter ground textures. Perhaps a screenshot, in top-down view and zoomed out, would provide more clues... Cheers, Holger
Dieter
Holger, I attach a screenshot of my problem. Initial point: - FSX started, standard situation at Meigs Field, July1st, 2013, 12:00 h, weather clear, summer - Aircraft set to KBZN, July1st, 2013, time 11:00 h, weather snow, winter <img src="http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/images/2013/10/13/V2qb.jpg" border="0" /> Red cross shows aircraft position at KBZN. Holger Sandmann
Hi Dieter, thanks for the screenshot, that irregular pattern does look like weather-induced changes to the ground textures. I've started a flight in Chicago on 7/1, selected the "clear skies" theme and switched to KBZN: the local weather remains summer and clear skies. There must be something in your flight/weather setup, perhaps induced by a weather add-on, that makes FSX believe there's snowfall at KBZN at that date/time. Dieter
Holger, thank you for taking care of my "problem".I have Flight Environment 2.3 (FEX) installed for clouds design, but this software doesn't have an own weather engine.I load real weather via MS/Real Weather or I'm using freeware "FSrealWX lite".Anyway, I can live with that because it's the only place I found so far where I have this problem. You might consider this problem as resolved.
