UTX and FTX Global / Besides lights, what should I uncheck?

I re-installed Ultimate Terrain X after years of having it on the shelf.

I know to uncheck the 3D lights in UTX, but I was wondering what other entries I should uncheck.  I know that UTX has certain textures for urban areas, etc., but I wanted to ensure that the FTX Global textures are used whenever possible.

Any suggestions?  I'm just not sure which textures that UTX uses in those special circumstances.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Ultimate Terrain X USA/Canada compatibility with FTX PNW
« Reply #1 on: February 27, 2010, 01:16:52 PM »Quote Hi guys,

so here are the lists of UTX night light files for both UTX USA and UTX Canada that you should deactivate if you want to retain the UTX night lights outside of FTX PNW.

There are different options for deactivation. For example, you can simply rename the .bgl extensions to .OFF or .FTX-PNW_OFF. Another option is to make a new folder inside the "UtCanLights" and "UTUsaLights" folders, named "FTX-PNW_deactivation" or similar, and move the listed files list into it.

If any files have a .XXX extension they are already deactivated in the UTX control panel and it's up to your whether you want to rename/move them as well.

Sort the UTX folders by name and note that the file names are all quite similar so double-check you move/rename the correct ones. The number sequences you're looking for are 1414, 1415, 1513, 1514, 1515, and 1516.

Thanks Jackson; however...

With FTX Global, I don't believe you have to go through that routine now with the lights now...I believe you just uncheck the lights option in UTX and the FTX Global lights will work (in no- FTX regions).

I'm speaking more about UTX options to uncheck so that they don't override some of the FTX Global textures/options.

The UTX LUX (or custom land class) layer may have its own specialized lighting for all I know, but it is the land class for row houses, seaports, universities, storage tank farms, apartments, industrial sites etc. Turn it off and you will get the default P3D/FSX LC information for those "holes"

jabloom,

Does FTX Global have textures for row houses, seaports, universities, etc.?  I.e. what populates that layer and why is it advantageous to uncheck that?

Right but if you don't turn it off then at night you'll get big ugly UTX texture areas clashing with the Global textures.

It looks terrible.
