Patrick Robinson
Hello All, First post here - I've done a quick search but couldn't find this particular issue. At Skagway I have a marina that is on dry land, and the runway is surrounded by small vertical walls. The FTX configurator shows that the orbx Alaska entries are at the top of the list, with the UT ones some way below. However, I've clearly got something wrong with my set-up, so any advice gratefully received! Tia, Pat
rockliffe
Hey Patrick, for starters, have you tried switching FTX to default and then back to Europe?
Patrick Robinson
Hi Rockliffe, Just tried de-activating FTX, then re-activating - however the elevation mis-match is still there. Parts of the airfield are below the level of the river, whilst the marina down at the harbour is on dry land. Not good news for all of the folks in their big SUVs down there!! rockliffe
Hi Patrick, Do you have any other third party mesh addons?
Patrick Robinson
I have UT Alaska & Tongass Fjords, and they are both below FTX in the scenery config file.
Holger Sandmann
Hi Pat, sounds like a conflict with a third-party add-on to me. I assume you've seen the three compatibility threads regarding SAK (Ultimate Alaska X, Aerosoft PANC, FS Genesis SEAK) in our subforum: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/forum/80-ftx-compatibility-forum/ . If those add-ons aren't the issue then check whether you have any other ones for Skagway in your scenery library. Sometimes those add-ons "hide" in generic folders and thus searching for files with "Skagway" of "PAGY" might help you find the culprit. Last but not least a screenshot or two of the issue would help us with the diagnosis; see http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/38447-how-to-post-a-screenshot-on-the-orbx-forums/ Cheers, Holger
Patrick Robinson
Hi Holger, I'll have a look at that batch file later on - in the meantime here are some screenies showing the issue: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/Bernie_Stafford/Skagway%20issues/Skagway1.jpg http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/Bernie_Stafford/Skagway%20issues/Skagway2.jpg http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/Bernie_Stafford/Skagway%20issues/Skagway3.jpg http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/Bernie_Stafford/Skagway%20issues/Skagway4.jpg On closer investigation it turned out that my "marina out of the water" was actually a boat yard!! So apologies for that, however the screen shots do show some elevation issues within the airport area.
Neil Hill
Hi Patrick, Skagway, PAGY requires a elevation file to be active. Please look in your FSX/Scenery/World/Scenery to make sure the elevation file: ADE_FTX_SAK_PAGY_elevation_adjustment.BGL ends in .BGL and not .OFF (which turns it "off"). If your FTX Central is set to North America and the above mentioned elevation file is "on" (ends in .BGL) then look for an interfering scenery of some kind as Holger mentioned. Good luck, Neil
Patrick Robinson
Hi Neil, That file is indeed set to bgl, so I'll have a look at the exclusion files that Holger mentioned. Thanks for the help! Pat
Patrick Robinson
Problem solved! Holger pointed me at the compatability threads, & following his guidance from there I updated UTX Alaska to V2.0, ran his DOS batch file - & Skagway is now nice & flat!! So, I suspect are several other areas that I hadn't even noticed yet! Many thanks to those of you who chipped in with suggestions - much appreciated! And a big Thank You to Holger - a: for his help & b: for everything that he's done for flying in Alaska since before Misty Moorings days - long may it continue!!
