ACTIVE Bowerman airport ground texture bleedthrough

I tried doing a search for a similar issue and came up empty, so my apologies if this has already been addressed. I just purchased FTX PNW and also downloaded Bowerman airport.  Both installed separately into P3D without issue.  Loaded a flight at Bowerman noticed that my grass textures bleed through both the apron and taxiways, but not the runway.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, Tim. I appreciate your help. I didn't see anything mentioned about a patch when I downloaded Bowerman. Did I completely miss it? Where can I get the patch? I'll give it a shot and see if that fixes my problem.

1 - set FTXcentral to [North America] before running the PNW servicepack,

I set FTX Central to North America then ran the PNW patch as administrator.  It did not give me the option of installing into P3D so I enabled virtual FSX by the Estonia Migrator Tool and then installed the patch.  After installation, the FTX Central menu appeared and the default P3D scenery was active. I reactivated the FTX NA scenery and get this error:

The error codes you show can mean a couple of things.....either you have missed installing the FSX SP1 and SP2 servicepacks, or not yet installed Acceleration

 

Or FTXcentral is not 'allowed' to copy the files from your FSX folder to backup, try right-clicking the FTXcentral icon >> properties >> compatibility >> tick the "Run this program as an administrator" box

 

Or... because you moved FSX to another drive.. the registry is borked, if so this toolie will fix it http://tweakfs.com/download/fsx_reg_utility.zip

I'm sorry, but I don't think I was very clear. I'm actually trying to install the patch into P3D, not FSX. I only use my FSX for scenery testing. My main sim with all Orbx addons is P3D. The PNW patch installer does not give me the option to install in P3D, which is why I tried the migrator, but it seems the patch really wants FSX.

Not sure about the P3D side of things, though am almost certain there is a P3D version of the patch around, I'll ask Ed to pop in on that

 

 

However your picture looks correct, Bowerman uses photoreal for all the areas, except the runway which is a default FSX surface, what can cause an issue is using one of those 'REX grass' detail textures for the ground, I would recommend the FTX AERO coarse or fine myself (also made by REX)

Hi Todd,

 

the version which you have recently downloaded from FSS is already updated with the latest 005 patch, so there's no need to run that patch. I haven't updated that patch to be a dual installer as anyone who now installs the P3D version of PNW from FSS downlaod is already getting the latest version.

Tim, thanks for responding. You are right, in that I am using REX grass textures, but why would those bleed through the apron? Are you saying that a custom polygon is not overlying the photoreal texture? I suppose that would explain the "bleedthrough" effect I am seeing. I'll try the Aero grass textures you suggested. Either way, good to know what you are seeing is normal.

Good to know the patch isn't necessary. Since I tried installing it anyway, should I uninstall PNW then do a fresh reinstall? I just hope my attempt to install the patch didn't mess up anything.
