JimNZ
Kia Ora, Hello fellow simmers. Just a thought that's all. I wonder if it's possible to add a spell checker to this site. I'm not the best of spellers, and I suspect there's a lot more out there like me, perhaps it might be a good way to attract more simmers to this board, which would be great. Ka kiti ano Jim. JimNZ
To those of us who had to leave school at a very early age to work on the farm, and learn to be humble never had time to play protester, smoke pot or write poetry and be an Australian to boot I think that this instrument would be helpful. Maurice_King
Jim you are using Firefox which has a spellchecker already built in , any word (unless a bastardised American variant) will be underlined in read, simply right click on it and correct the spelling or add it to your dictionary. Jay Kae
..... To those of us who had to leave school at a very early age to work on the farm, and learn to be humble never had time to play protester, smoke pot or write poetry and be an Australian to boot .... Not sure how to take that, should I be offended or not ? If you think that humility comes with being uneducated and protesting, smoking pot and writing poetry is synonymous with having been to University you have got quite a few lessons of life to learn. I was of course merely joking when I wrote my earlier comment @Bulldog, lol that just cracked me up!
chumley
"Ka kiti ano Haere Ra" Key kiwi anew Hare Ra Look what happens when you do use the Firefox spell checker. mmglads
At the risk of promoting an unsolicited ad - this is what my wife ( a teacher for 28 years) does for a living, help children with learning difficulties to read & spell. Check out www.sounds-write.com.au. As approximately 49% of Aussie (& UK kids as well, by the way have a similar percentage) leave school with poor reading & writing skills - (it's true!) We hope to help educate all kids to fulfil their potential, including the the pilots of the future. Without the "3 R's" - you have a real struggle in life. Off soapbox now, & back to flying - but I couldn't resist! We've helped kids of all denominations & ethnic backgrounds from Canberra to the far north coast - & we'll continue until we can't! The reason by the way, that we can read the BendigoAndy text is - simply - because all who understand it can read pretty well error free anyway. Givie that to any kid between 6 & 16 who has poor reading & decoding skills & it will be gibberish. Cheers for reading, Malcolm. P.S. Did you know that the English language is one of the most difficult to decode?
Geoffman
Andy, no one said poor spelling is a sign of stupidity (more an indication of our education system and standards IMHO), nor did anyone hint that dyslexics are poor spellers or stupid either. So put the soap box away mate.
