Possible problem with duplicate files?

Recommended Posts

I found following files which are looking similar (or duplicate):

FTX_AA_PAKT

Orbx_AK1H_Ketchikan_N_Tongass_Hwy_heli_8m.BGL

FTX_NA_PFJ05

ADE_FTX_PFJ_AK1H_Ketchikan_N_Tongass_Hwy_heli.BGL

ADE_FTX_PFJ_AK1H_Ketchikan_N_Tongass_Hwy_heli_CVX.bgl

FTX_PFJ_objects_AK1H_PLC.bgl

scenery/world/scenery

ADE_FTX_PFJ_PAKT_AK1H_Ketchikan_N_Tongass_Hwy_heli_8m_ALT.BGL

Is that correct or do they possibly hamper each other?

No anomalies to be seen, I was just wondering.

The reason for asking is following:

After starting FSX I change the default location to airport-ID: PAKT

Now, when switching ok, the FSX window shows actual location as: Ketchikan N Tongass Hwy heli

Starting the flight the aircraft is set to Ketchikan airport.

Hi Dieter,

the incorrect location information is just a "cosmetic" bug not a functional one and it's not due to a coding error. Actually, something similar happens at the nearby 9C0 seaplane base. The problem is that there are four seaplane bases, two heliports, plus PAKT itself, in a very small area so their "areas of influence" overlap. I'm not positive but believe that FSX picks the location information in the airport selection menu based on the coordinates of the airport reference points, which are typically the centerpoints of the runway. It seems that at PAKT and 9C0 the reference points of those heliport files are spatially closer and thus the wrong information is displayed. However, the user aircraft is still being placed where you wanted it to.

Cheers, Holger
