Amazing!... I'd love to know how many trees are being rendered at max agn settings?... equally amazing is how performance is maintained.

If you don't have any restrictors set in fsx.cfg, then it would be 6,000 trees per square kilometre. Performance is maintained because Matt Tomkins devised a new method of referencing autogen texture sheets which reduces the number of drawcalls and also the size of the texture sheets being called. That combined with our own brand new tree primitive models by Martin Henare gives us a new custom autogen trees solution.

We can thank ACES for creating this extensibility in the original SDK, but it's a double edged sword. Because so many files are globally shared, it's a nightmare to manage large scenery projects like this (thus FTX Central). If they had allowed localisation of custom elements we would be a lot more advanced in implementing brand new tech in the sim.

I think the best thing to do is to remove that line completely from the cfg!

Those trees look great indeed. I think I may have to buy NZSI...
