Ken Hall
I just noticed I have lost my snow, I checked that it was set to winter, I suspect the winter textures are missing in action, how do I check if they are still there. cheers Ken
Holger Sandmann
Hi Ken, actually, FSX knows two types of winter: "mild" and "hard". Mild winter textures generally don't show much if any snow whereas had winter textures do. This is a clever approach to distinguishing areas with occasional snow from those with consistent snow cover. Moreover, if the weather situation includes falling snow FSX will dynamically switch to hard winter textures during the flight regardless of which season you're flying in. For AU BLUE we limited hard winter to those high-elevation areas that are likely to have consistent snow cover. There's an online snow cover map for Australia and NZ that we consulted as one source of information for our seasons file. You can use that to get an idea when and where our hard winter textures are likely to occur: http://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/smcd/emb/snow/HTML/aus_nz_snow.html Cheers, Holger
Ken Hall
thanks Ho;get but I have flown these areas before and always had snow, top of cradle mountain , ben Lomond , mt Roland, but alas not a drop anywhere, could it have happened with the AU gold install. Ken Hall
I did a comparison with the autumn textures and they are exactly the same, ie winter and autumn are identical, I might load up the summer ones and see if for some reason its stuck on autumn. Ken Hall
May have found the problem, I recently added the bufferpools=5000000 to the cfg file. I diabled it and back came the snow, maybe one of the gurus can explain it. cheers
