BAW9DV
Hi, Due to my Community folder being encrypted under Windows 10 (don't ask - I have spent over a month with MS, my PC supplier and many others on trying to get access to the Community folder!), I must uninstall MSFS2020 in order to move the installation to a new SSD (H:\). Whilst uninstalling is fairly straight forward, must I uninstall all the scenery products that I have purchased from Orbx, via Orbx Central before removing MSFS? And when I have MSFS on the new drive location, presumably I use Orbx Central to reinstall them - will it allow me to install into the newly created Community folder on H: now? Thank you, Lee
Nick Cooper
Hello Lee, it would probably be a good idea to migrate all your Orbx products to an Orbx Central Library. Once you have done that, they should be safe from Windows and Sync Simulator should replace links to them all in your new Community folder. BAW9DV
Hello Nick, Not sure I understand. I have purchased all my products through Orbx and they exist in the library when I load Orbx Central. I'm trying to understand if I should use Orbx Central to uninstall these products first - then after reinstalling MSFS to the new drive, when I then use Orbx Central to reinstall them, will Orbx Central "see" the new location? Or will it try to install back in the now, non-existent C: drive location? Cheers, Lee

Nick Cooper
Hello, there are two choices in Orbx Central: 1. to install products into MSFS, which will place them into the Community folder. 2. to install products into an Orbx Central Library which will be outside the MSFS folder and add links to the Community folder. If you did 1. then you can copy those files into your new MSFS location. If you did 2. then they should be safe from Windows and Sync Simulator should replace links to them all in your new Community folder.

Guess what... the Community folder is encrypted again! The best thing I can suggest, is using the MSFS Addons Linker for all your addons. That way, you can have the addons in an unencrypted folder of your choice https://flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker

Actually, the original question was about avoiding an encrypted Community folder.. and I would suggest that the proposed plan would not fix that.. Bert Pieke
Just now, Bert Pieke said: Actually, the original question was about avoiding an encrypted Community folder.. and I would suggest that the proposed plan would not fix that.. The Orbx products would not be affected and your recommendation of placing them in an Orbx library is consistent with what I am suggesting.
