CaptainLens
Just looking in the addon.cfg file and I see this entry within it.... as you can see there is the Microsoft Flight Sim library in the P3Dv5 addon folder... ???? how come please? [DiscoveryPath.0] PATH=D:\Orbx Library\p3dv5 TITLE=Orbx MSFS Orbx Library ACTIVE=true REQUIRED=false [DiscoveryPath.1] PATH=F:\Orbx Library\p3dv5 TITLE=Orbx Main Library ACTIVE=true REQUIRED=false [DiscoveryPath.2] PATH=F:\Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons\A2A TITLE=A2A ACTIVE=true
Nick Cooper
Hello, probably because that is the way that Orbx Central has to work. As there are no add-on.xml files in the msfs folder, no harm will be done to either simulator.
CaptainLens
oh. So if no effect takes place in either sim, why is this entry in here.. I dont get it? If it serves no purpose, why does it need to be here? Does the MFS2020 sim have a P3Dv5 entry somewhere in their sim? This just sounds upside down and back to front...Orbx Logic
Nick Cooper
Hello, I have looked into this a little more. One can install any P3D v4 or P3D v5 product into any Orbx Central Library. If one does, then a p3dv4 or p3dv5 folder will be created, regardless of whether the customer has designated the Library to MSFS or not. If such a folder is created, then Orbx Central adds that folder as a P3D Discovery Path. If there is no such folder, then it does not do so. I just dont get how a MFS product/library gets written by necessity to a P3D.cfg file, obviously its Orbx Central doing it, although something is going wrong if Orbx Central is confused about which sims cfg files its writing too... Im so glad I dont have MFS on the pc.... I get nothing happens to an empty folder designation, its only a discovery path, but when there is a corruption in someones sim, it waves a doubt over the thinking behind the "why" this is necessary... Anyways, thanks for your time Nick... is it safe to remove the discovery path for either sim please?
Nick Cooper
Hello, Orbx Central cannot and does not create an "Orbx MSFS Orbx Library". Only the user can do that and only the user can designate its location. If the user then installs a p3dv5 product into the folder, then a p3dv5 folder will be created inside it for that product. Orbx Central will then add a Discovery Path entry to the add-ons.cfg file so that P3D will look at it. If the user then deletes the reference to the Discovery Path, P3D will no longer look into the folder for add-on.xml files and anything that is installed there will be invisible to it.
