jb44mag
Yesterday flying Carenado Phenom 300 from KSNA to KBFI. After landing at KBFI and taxing to the gate, the plane crashed into vegetation on the taxi way, where there was no vegetation. This morning flying out of SCEL to MHTG flying at 39,500 I crashed into vegetation again! at 39500! No vegetation there. Ideas? -Jim
John Dow
The recommendation is to disable the unrealistic crash detection. The original code for crash detection was never written with today's complex sceneries envisaged. It has become basically impossible for developers to manage the crash boxes for every component of the scenery.
jb44mag
So, are we disable crash detection? and thereby disabling stress etc? i don't see a discrimination on crashes, i.e. i don't see "disable unrealistic crash detection in p3dv5
Nick Cooper
Hello, this discussion pops up every week, sometimes more often. In the quest for an approximation to real life, a crash that results in a game resetting itself to its default flight is perhaps as far from the actual consequences of an aircraft crash as it is possible to get, especially if that consequence is the result of running over a few blades of grass. I would expect you to disagree but ask you to consider the following. If the real world consequences are important, then the purchase of an addon aircraft by a developer such as A2A, PMDG or FSLabs is a far better solution. Even the excellent Digital Dakota Works freeware C47 can "blow up" its engines if abused and in similar circumstances to the real world abuse that would cause such an event in real life. Unfortunately, P3D cannot be set to detect stress damage without also detecting crash damage, something that might actually have helped a little towards a nearer approximation of the real world.
