Dadtom65
Hi guys. Right I think I have always gone for a K Cpu, like mine at the moment is an i5 6600K and believe before that it may have been the 2600K . So as I’m hoping to upgrade my computer later, is it worth me getting a K Cpu as I have never over clocked my Cpu or the memory for that matter. So should I just get the bog standard Cpu. Am thinking of the Comet Lake i7 or i9. Plus I’m not interested in the AMD Cpu, have always gone for Intel. What do you guys think please. Thanks Derek. Nick Cooper
Hello Derek, I have just gone for an i5 10600 K. You will need a new motherboard as well for the 10 series. I also had to upgrade the 32 GB of RAM to DDR 4. I added a 1 TB M2 SSD. Amazon: £720, £610 without the M2 . Its default speed is 4.1 and 4.8 turbo on all six cores. Just to try, I clocked it up to 5ghz using the really easy Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. It's just a slider. It worked, ran a bit warmer.
Dadtom65
Hi Nick. So another i5 that’s interesting, I will have to check out the price and see you went with a Z490 M/B. I will have to check it out. Just one thing how’s the GTX 1070ti going, though I would probably go for the 2070ti. Thanks Nick. Derek.
Nick Cooper
The biggest difference I can see is that the i5 10600K has hyperthreading. The 1070 ti is fine with the new set up to feed it. I can't justify £1000 - £1500 for a 2080ti and will wait and see what the 3000 series brings.
