Uglyspirit
Having just a 4gb video card i was on the limit as regards Vram usage on vanilla P3D V5- often running out of memory and suffering crashes. Since hotfix 2 V5 runs without crashing (thus far) and seems to manage Vram better probably through more aggressive texture streaming? I'm considering installing Global then other sceneries one by one..will this significantly increase video ram usage?
Orbx Flyer
Yes, perhaps 300 or 500 MB's more,...I have an 8GB card...and usually run between 3.7-4.1 or .2 I also have my sim sliders full or very right side aggressive.
Nick Cooper
Hello, it may or may not help, but in my experience, P3D v5 shadows consume up to 3 GB of VRAM, set at Ultra versus set to Off, out of 7.1 GB. Admittedly, the simulator looks better with some shadows but the gain in both performance and free VRAM is little short of spectacular. For what it's worth, I also find no benefit in using the latest 451.48 Nvidia driver or the Windows 10 managed graphics which apart from anything else, introduces artifacts in windowed mode. I find that P3D v5 works much better using 446.14. Of course, YMMV.
The Badger
That's interesting @Nick Cooper. I've had no end of trouble with Gpu issues since HF2 with 451.48 so I rolled back to 446.14 this evening but haven't had a chance to test it yet. Hoping it'll solve a few issues for me.
