saul
Hi guys I need some help to point me in the right direction. P3Dv5 crashes/shuts down when I’m running Orbx scenery for P3Dv5. My platform is a clean rebuild from windows up and I’m running the latest version of everything. Symptoms: Case 1: flying NZWN to NZAA with Orbx NZ North Island, P3D fails at the same point in the air. Case 2: Flying to YBBN with Orbx YBBN airport and Australia V2, P3Dv5 fails on touch down. Case 3: Start from YBBN domestic terminal with Orbx YBBN airport and taxi to south end of rwy, P3D fails at the same point on taxiway B near B7. Case 3 variant with AI aircraft turned off - same result as case 3 (at same point) Case 3: YBBN turned off and Australia V2 on, I have trees on taxiways (see photo) and when I taxied through one tree, P3D crashed. These three cases are repeatable. P3D does not crash if I turn off the Orbx files via the P3D add-ins tab. This is so frustrating because I love the scenery packs - they are great. Hardware has not been an issue to date: i7-7700K@4.2GHz with GTX-1080Ti with frame rate set to 30fps. Other key software is SimAv with B777 Any ideas? Could it be scenery layering (see second photo)? many thanks Saul
Nick Cooper
Hello, do you mean that P3D stops working, or do you mean that it tries to simulate an aircraft crash by returning you to the default scenario?
saul
Hi Nick P3D stops working (as if the software has crashed) and i'm looking at the desk top while SimAv continues to be running. I have P3D on computer A with projectors and SimAv on computer B.
Nick Cooper
Thanks. This close to the next P3D v5 "hotfix", it is probably best to see what that effect has first.
saul
Ok - i'll let you know if it improves my system
saul
Hi Nick I have upgraded to P3DV5 HF2 5.0.31.35253. I turned on YMML and no issue I turned on YBBN and re-positioned to YBBN then taxied as per last flight. The problem remains. I taxi to the same point and P3D stops. See attached video (sorry about the audio!). I will leave the PC running in case you need me to find files to help in the diagnosis. Nick Cooper
Hello, unfortunately, I cannot see the video. Could you repeat the problem and note the coordinates where this happens please?
saul
No probs Nick, it was simply showing normal taxing then P3D freezes then closes to the desk top I'll do it again and get the coordinates for YBBN and the point between NZWN and NZAA that was also a repeatable failure. It's so strange that its repeatable for me but not impacting anyone else. Cheers
a340500
If that is the PMDG 777 then it is not compatible with P3Dv5. Did you try with default A/c or PMDG's 747 which IS compatible with P5DHF1 ?
saul
No probs Nick, it was simply showing normal taxing then P3D freezes then closes to the desk top coordinates are: S27deg24.2 E153deg 07.1 moving at 25kts but that's not precise to the same point of failure. The point between NZWN and NZAA that is also repeatable is S40deg 48.4 E174deg 47.4 at 390kts This causes SimAv to fail then the pane becomes uncontrollable and then P3D falls over @ a340500 I fly B777 by SimAvionics (FDS)
saul
Hi Nick just an update, last night Orbx central identified that I needed to update global base, vectors and trees I did the update and the problem remains. Any thoughts? thanks
saul
Just an update, I uninstalled YBBN with Australia 2 running and it still crashed P3D - so clearly its not YBBN causing the problem!! Hopefully that helps
Euphonist
Hi Saul and Nick, Yesterday I installed YBBN and guess what? Same problem and at exactly the same place! I hope it is a simple and little bug. Have a nice flight, Wil
Euphonist
Is there something going on around this problem? I don't see anything. Please check! Have a nice flight, Wil
Euphonist
Hi simmers, Yesterday I installed the updated Australia v2 version, indicating changes to the Brisbane airport, but the problem is still there. During taxiing the plane crashes again! Have a nice flight, Wil
John Dow
I just tested this. I don't have a passenger jet in P3DV5 so I used the DHC6 and taxied several times along that taxiway and turned towards the runway. No crash. I then turned on crash detection and I got a crash at that spot. So although your sim with that add-on doesn't show a crash, I would suspect that it is the cause. If you have crash detection turned off in the sim, then perhaps the addon program somehow reads a collision there. If you have crqash detection turned on, the best option is to turn it off. Euphonist
Ah John, Thanks, so simple. I just not thought about that. Must be my age
