Does a way to stop screenies displaying exist?

Is there a way to prevent photos displaying each time I go to a topic to read the latest additions to the thread? I like to look at the photos once then review the comments of others without the post I'm looking at bing whipped away all the time as screenies are loaded.

Of course I still want to be able to revisit them, on my terms, at other times.

I open the thread wait 2 seconds then press the blue X in my browser (mozilla) to stop the page loading and constantly flipping up, perhaps there is an easier way?

Click on the NEW icon next to the topic name, it will take you to the newest post in that thread that you haven't read.

Yeah you just hit Esc on the keyboard to stop the loading, the text would have already loaded before the pics

The easy way is to hover over the "Show last Post" button and click.....

Show last post option doesn't work. Try it and you will see the post shows for a second or two then suddenly it is spirited away by the loading photos.

I have found a setting in Firefox Tools > Options > Content that allows photo downloads to be disabled.
