JohnVulcan
ORBX please check out your bridge POI installations, they are letting down all your hard work! Take a look at the approaches to the Fremont Bridge below, this shot taken from John Venema's resent Oregon V1.01 Patch topic. What is going on? After all the hard work creating this POI, it's installation is terrible! The approaches look as though they have collapsed and to cap it all two non-existent 'hoods' have been added for good measure. These show up better below:- Please see what it actually looks like in Google Earth below:- Infact, sorry to say, but the fact is that many of the bridge installations need attention. See another example below, this time the rail bridge next to KVUO Pearson Field and also check out the road bridge next to it as both appear to have collapsed into the Willamette River:- And again see what it actually looks like in Google Earth below:- And the road bridge:-
Jon Clarke
@Nick Cooper Please mark as Noted. @Tony Wroblewski There have been comments about bridge placements especially in the TE series for a while now, and am wondering if it would be possible to have a Devs statement as to what the difficulties are in some instances of placing these bridges correctly, like exampled in the OP's post. I cannot find a suitable answer to offer the OP.
Tony Wroblewski
I've passed this feedback on to our 3D modeller. The bridges were made before the actual mesh was correctly in place, so some of them need adjusting correctly.
JohnVulcan
Thanks Tony. I hope the non-existent 'hoods' added to the Fremont Bridge will be removed also. I'll have to say that I'm puzzled as to why they are there in the first place though, are they part of the bridge modelling process? Just interested. Tony Wroblewski
The hoods are actually caused by X-Plane. When you cut a road using an exclusion it puts in this annoying cap to indicate a tunnel, which just looks horrible in most cases. I could in theory block them with a library object, but it would remove them in cases where it is actually relevant to show it, so it remains challenging
