twister
I have decided to fully uninstall orbx europe (England/Wales/Scotland) completely from my PC (Windows 8.1) . I have no orbx addons. What exactly are the steps I need to take? Thanks. Ray
Nick Cooper
Hello Ray, open FTX Central, visit the page of each of the products that you wish to uninstall and click on Uninstall.
twister
Nick, thank you. Do I also have to: 1. go to the simulator root folder and delete the ORBX folder, and 2. go to C:\Users\my name\AppData\Local folder and delete the ORBX folder ? Nick Cooper
Hello Ray, you can if you wish. You won't be able to uninstall the libraries but deleting the Orbx folder will do this. You may finish up with an orphan scenery library entry for them which you can also delete.
twister
Hello Nick. Thanks again. I have now 1. uninstalled all ORBX Scenery from FTX Central, 2. in the FSX root folder, deleted the ORBX folder, and 3. in C:\Users\raymond\AppData\Local folder, deleted the ORBX folder. After this, I have run FSX (all scenery addons in the FSX Library Scenery un-enabled) using just the Default FSX Scenery. The Default Scenery seems to have been altered, especially around coasts and where there is water. Did my original installing of ORBX Scenery change the default scenery in any way? Nick Cooper
Hello Ray, using the products that you listed should indeed have changed the coast and shorelines of the areas that they covered.
twister
Hello Nick, Do you mean using the ORBX products causes the the FSX default scenery to be changed and un-installing all the ORBX products leaves the FSX default scenery altered. If this is so, can I recover the original FSX default scenery? Ray

Unless you have installed FTX Global in which case the original textures will have been overwritten.
twister
John, thank you for that. I have not installed FTX global, I think !! Now that I have un-installed ORBX, how might I check that I did not install FTX global ? Ray
Nick Cooper
Hello Ray, just run a repair, then whether you did or not will be irrelevant.
twister
Thank you Nick. I will run a repair but First Jim Young has advised to watch out if I have run anything like Central/Northern Rockies or Pacific Fiords as Scenery/World/Scenery needs manually installing. Is this correct and where is Scenery/World/Scenery now that I have un-installed Orbx Completely ?
twister
Nick, sorry. I'm confusing the issue. Before I run the repair of FSX, I want to check the following: I have, some years ago, run ORBX Central Rockies, Northern Rockies and Pacific Fiords from DVD's. I have now completely un-installed ORBX. Will this complete un-install have removed everything associated with these sceneries ? Thanks for the help. Nick Cooper
Hello Ray, not necessarily. There will almost certainly be elevation adjustment and traffic files in scenery\world\scenery. You can easily search for them using the region's initials, CRM, NRM and PFJ, then delete them. There may be sound files in the sound folder, these will have no effect if left there. There may be effects files in the effects folder, these will have no effect if left there. There might even be textures in the textures folder, these will have no effect if left there. twister
Nick, thank you again for the prompt reply. Since I have no ORBX folders now, exactly where do I find scenery/world/scenery, and if I find this, is this where I search for the regions initials, CRM, NRNM and PFJ ? I see the following Scenery Areas in the FSX Scenery Library: CHPROX_LANDMARKS CHPROX_APTS CHPROX_SCENERY CHPROX_APTS_ELEV CHPROX_APTS_D Are these anything to do with ORBX ? Nick Cooper
Hello Ray, Windows File Explorer, open the main FSX directory. Click on scenery, then click on World, then click on scenery and you will see all the files.
twister
Nick, thanks again for bearing with me. I'm setup now, I think, (as best as can be) to do my repair of FSX. Ray
twister
Nick, on reflection, I've decided to show you my Scenery/World/Scenery folder. Could you point out which files need deleting ? Thanks a lot. Ray
Nick Cooper
Hello Ray, these are the default files.
twister
Hello Nick, You say these are the default files. Are they the files that need deleting before an FSX repair, or is it the remaining files only in Scenery/World/Scenery that should be deleted ? Thanks again. Nick Cooper
Hello Ray, those are the files that FSX creates when it is installed. Any other files that you may have will have been added by other developers.
