PAVD Valdez Elevation Problems

updraft

Recommended Posts

Hi

It worked flawlessly some time ago, but now I have elevation problems:
The runway is missing and the taxiways are elevated related to the ground.

What I have installed:
Orbx SAK
Orbx PAVD
RTMM Pipeline

What I tried:
-checked forums and layer order/insertion point
-new install by FTX Central 3
-FTX Global Vector AEC enabled/disabled
-ADE_FTX_SAK_PAVD_elevation_adjustment.BGL in scenery\world active/non-active
-Changed settings in FSXA and re-set them as per the user guide
All to no avail
What did I miss?

Is there anything known to help this problem?

I've attached 3 pcs showing situation and scenery library order

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards
Ernst

Hi Ernst

I would first start with an uninstall and reinstall of PAVD, and if that doesn't work....

I would deactivate all non Orbx scenery library entries and activate all Orbx and default entries to troubleshoot.

Also, there is an entry at the bottom of your scenery library (#478) that I would move to the top above the Orbx entries and put it with the other 3rd party stuff.

You could also go further and delete the active scenery.cfg all together, run FSX to create a new default scenery.cfg, then run FTXC3 which will add all your Orbx entries, then rerun the Vector AEC tool, start FSX and see how PAVD looks, you would then need to add your 3rd party stuff after.

Cheers

Hi Doug

Well, I am back to my PC and have now followed your advises:

-New install (2x) of PAVD
-removed scenery.cfg and let FSX create a new one
-started FSX and FTX Central3 and set insertion points
-activated SAK, the basic NA FTXa andx and PAVD plus the mandatory FSX sceneries
-ran FTX Vector and applied AEC
Unfortunately, the elevation problems with PAVD are still present

-activated all NA FTX, Orbx and all basic FSX sceneries
-ran FTX Vector and applied AEC
no improvement, same result

Some screenies show my situation at PAVD

Hope and thanks for the unltimate tip to get this scenery working

Best regards
Ernst

Hi Holger

Thank you for taking care of my problem.

Attached are 2 jpgs with the searchresults with *PAVD*.bgl of my entire scenery SSD.

FSX SSD search resulted in finding  ADE_FTX_SAK_PAVD_elevation_adjustment.BGL  in scenery/world/scenery.

I don't see any addon scenery problem, the RTMM files should not do any harm.

Hope you'll find a solution.

Best regards

Ernst

Hallo Ernst,

see my search results for comparison. It looks to me that the three SAK PAVD files are missing. The add-on PAVD relies on the flatten files provided with SAK so they need to be present.

And to confirm: you do have a "ADE_FTX_SAK_PAVD_elevation_adjustment.BGL" in F:\Scenery\World\scenery? The file in the \OFF folder is an inactive backup.

I assume those RTMM files are specifically meant to be compatible with the stand-alone PAVD add-on?

Cheers, Holger

Hi Holger

This is a very surprising finding, these 3 files are really missing in my SAK05/scenery folder.

But PAVD worked fine say 3 months ago. I hope to find these files in one of my backups and shall report.

I do have this  ADE_FTX_SAK_PAVD_elevation_adjustment.BGL but  in  E:\FSX\scenery\world\scenery, the only PAVD file in FSX.

I run a dedicated SSD E:\FSX plus a SSD F:\ with FSX Sceneries of all kind plus the Orbx folder for the symbolic link from E:\FSX\Orbx

Yes, RTMM (Return to Misty Moorings) files ar part of their BWEP Alaska Pipieline Project which require SAK and offer special files if Orbx PAVD is installed.

This is a great free addon for SAK!

Thans for your findings, I'll inform.

Cheers

Ernst

Hi Holger

You made my day!

I found the 3 missing files in SAK in a backup of late 2017 and now PAVD is back to its full beauty!

I have no idea how and for what reason these 3 files disappeared from SAK.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards

Ernst
