The airport functions perfectly and as designed, hence no refund. We can offer an exchange and Richard will be in touch.

Thanks Ed Correia yes the airport does work, but you cant use it in any flight plan, Richards has been in touch but with no offer of an exchange but says my problem is a technical one that should be posted here.

Nick Cooper told me to:-

Please use the ticket system.

Please do not purchase Chicago meigs either.

Explain that!! Sir

Hello,

The only way to achieve a refund or exchange is to use the ticket system, there

was and is no implied promise of the request being successful.

This statement is unambiguous:

Quote

We can offer an exchange and Richard will be in touch

I think you should recognise that you have been offered an exchange product.

There is a large range of Orbx airports whose real world counterparts remain open.

I advised you not to buy Meigs, because it also is closed.

There is nothing wrong with either product except that you apparently do not

wish to have closed airports in your simulator.

Given that, a little research before purchase would have prevented this problem.

Thanks Nick

You are of course correct it's my fault entirely, I could not imagine that ORBX sold shut airports that have no Navdata.

I am happy to accept an exchange. Richard has been in touch but did not offer an exchange.

Perhaps you might reply to him and quote Ed's reply to you?

You might also suggest your preferred alternative.

Either way, it will be best to continue using the support ticket system.

As to the shut airports, when ENNK was developed, it was not closed.

Similarly, Meigs was the default airport in the early versions of the

Microsoft Flight Simulators and although it was closed in 2003, there

are very many who still enjoy flying there.

There is similarly a healthy demand for aircraft models that no longer

fly and in some cases no longer exist in the real world.

These are of course flight simulators and therefore not bound to the

real world, unless of course you choose to do this yourself.

To be fair to ORBX, ENNK was a fully functioning airport when they first released the scenery. Avinor then closed it down because a new bridge made the larger ENNV airport more accessible to the town of Narvik. One wouldn't expect ORBX to stop selling the product. However, unlike Meigs field, which is advertised as a now-fictional former real airfield, this is how ENNK is currently described on the sales page - "Narvik Airport, Framnes is a regional airport located at Framnes in Narvik. It is operated by the state-owned Avinor and served by Widerøe."

An update of that description would be a good idea!

Cheers mate I could not have put it better.

I discovered on my ticked that Richard has just been instructed to offer me a replacement, I have asked for KRDD Redding it is open with Navdata.

Subject closed and forgotten.

It should be noted also that the product description has now been updated

to reflect the real world events at this airport.

I feel sure that in the thousands of simulator airports, there will be others that

are no longer the same as they were when they were first modelled for the simulator.

The Orbx general policy is that the simulated airport can only be a snapshot of what was there when

it was created and that subsequent real world changes are not routinely added or taken

away from the existing airport software.

This includes the re-numbering of runways and the amendments to radio frequencies.
