John Derrick
I've just reinstalled the Orbx scenery on my new computer and all these black squares appeared. Never seen them before. Can you please advise what they are and/or how I remove them. Thank you.
Smudger
Hello John, Welcome to the forums, Untick the Preview DirectX 10 box in FSX - Settings - Display. Alternatively you could install Steves DX10 fixer.
MZee1960
Hi John, Please let us know if you're using DX10 or DX9 in FSX ? (ie. Is the 'Direct X 10 Preview' box checked ? ) I am using DX9 and just had these same squares appear after downloading a new aircraft, so not 'all' of these 'black square' issues are related to using DX10. In my case, I only see these whenever I have that particular aircraft loaded, and with all other aircraft all is OK. The black squares, BTW, are most likely missing 'textures' for the Orbx lights which are visible at dusk and night.
Nick Cooper
Hello, do not be distracted by the post above. The black squares are indeed caused by running the simulator in Preview Direct X 10 mode. They are not missing textures but are the result of the inability of the uncorrected Direct X 10 mode to display the lights.
John Derrick
Yes, it was the DirectX 10 box that somehow got ticked. All seem well now. Thank you for your help, much appreciated.
