hwh86
Ultimate Defrag 5 from Robert Ferraro launched. Read a review at PC Aviator. Still learning to use it but so far it seems to deliver better load performance and absolute user control, just as promised.
Flight-Simmer (Pete)
Hmmm I thought windows 10 gets the job done reasonably effectively, how ever I would be interested to hear more about this. Pete
YoYo
Better to invest in SSD disc.
TerryM
These days you should be using 2 solid state drives, one for your operating system and one for your flight sim, a 7200 mechanical just doesn't come close, they may be much cheaper, but they are also significantly slower for both sequential and random read/write operations, with an average I/O performance that's in excess of 10x slower than the cheapest SSDs on the market, plus they have significantly slower access times, and they use 4x more power than an SSD. If you want fast load times...... then you really have to go Solid State, and once you do.... you'll never look back; plus there's no more messing about with having to defrag your drives again; you should really only be using a mechanical drive as cheap storage for back ups. raphaelmckitrick
Is it possible to copy my existing FSX over to a new SSD without having to re-install everything? I have my system files on a SSD, and FSX on a separate hard drive.
Stewart Hobson
Hi, there. I believe you can, as long as you label the SSD with the same letter as your old HD and the file structure hasn't been changed.
raphaelmckitrick
HI Stewart, thanks for the reply. I think I'm going to go that route. I'm hoping it will help the occasional lag. Cheers, Raphael
