Still no lakes or seas

Recommended Posts

After getting Vector installed successfully in P3D V3 last night, I still have no water only sand dunes

I ran all the config options possible in FTX Central 3.2

I even disabled the Vector entries in the scenery config file

Which location should the Vector entries be in the scenery.cfg file?

Maybe somehow my water textures have gone or been overwritten

I am using REX textures and I am sure my v3 sim has soft clouds in the air so it should have inserted water textures too

Here is a screen shot just south of the default airport KVPS

N30 14.44'    W86  32.58'

most sea is this sandy texture but on the coast it can be generic industrial area textures complete with autogen buildings & trees

Here are a couple of scenes from Pago Pago OrbX just above the airport - fresh install minutes ago

The sand should of course be sea and some of the green shown should also be sea

Surprising is the sea on the hills

I have no external mesh installed - its P3D default & whatever OrbX adds

I will provide the terrain.cfg file here and will hold off on reinstalling Vector

It was after first Vector install attempt that my water disappeared.

The install stopped at 30Mb and would not go past this

To get Vector to install I wiped my Antivirus & cleared the firewall

terrain.cfg

Hi there,

that's a weird terrain.cfg as it only contains the custom Orbx entries but none of the default bits; it can't possibly work this way and I'm surprised your sim starts at all. Where did you get this terrain.cfg from? The active version resides in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3. If that's where yours is from I'd suggest removing it entirely from that folder, then starting P3Dv3, which will force it to build a new default version. Then you would start FTX Central, which in turn should add the Orbx block of custom entries to the new default terrain.cfg.

Cheers, Holger

Hi Holger

Thanks for your assistance

I had the same problem when I first reinstalled v3 on my new SSD

Nick from York sent me a new scenery.cfg file and it worked

It appears something really screwed up with the install

I followed your suggestion and everything appears to be working well

Now to get my v4 back

Both sims now working

Will only fly v3 for a few airports & till a few planes become compatible with v4

Then later in the year v3 will go the way of the dinosaurs on my computer
