What is this Migration?

akmatov,

Short answer:

"Migration" refers to the moving of Orbx files that took place to enable the "unified lookup" capability of FTX Central 2.

There is more info in the forum here:  http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/forum/210-unified-lclookup-support/

Longer answer:

In the old FTX Central, if you wanted to fly within one of your FTX Terrain Regions, you had to select that Region before starting FSX/P3D, so that sim knew what set of textures and objects to "look up" and load.

The new FTX Central 2 has a "unified lookup" which will automatically load the correct files.  No manual switching required! :)

The update from Central to Central 2, requires that some Orbx files  be "migrated" from their old locations, to a new file arrangement that works with the "unified lookup".

Just for reference, here is John's original announcement of the unified global regions, from February:

And Ed's announcement from May:

Last thing, it is not optional. All new OrbX products require the new capability.

I don't have it... and all my new acquisition work fine.

Now I don't have any LC product.

The question is: Is it fixed???? Because it didn't work properly for a lot of folks when it came out

Pushed by FTX Central since latest ORBXlibs but few people come back to say it works

Migration is a term that implies going from one site to another or in computer terms, going from a system to another. Using this term for a change of funcionality made inside the same system is a bit confusing.

Kind regards,

Jorge.
