P3D Landclass Problem after SoCal install

Recommended Posts

HI,

I just posted about this earlier on the P3D forums because I wasn't sure if it was a P3D issue or an ORBX issue.

I installed P3D V3.1 last night, and everything was working well.  This morning I installed SoCal only, no other products or addons of any description.  I mistakingly took off from Fresno and flew East, and it was here over the hills and mountains East of Fresno I noticed the issue.  I thought it was a problem with the SoCal install at first, but then I checked, and in fact I had not even flown over the ORBX SoCal coverage area.  This is why I posted the issue on the P3D forum first.  The issue was with landclass "popping" and changing appearance as I flew towards it and past it.  When I zoomed out from top down view it was pretty obvious there was a problem with the landclass as there was a chequered appearance of landclass tiles; See pics below.  There was also an issue with mesh, as sections of hills suddenly appeared out of nowhere when I flew past on a few occasions.

However, I was going to do a full reinstall, but I decided to set FTX Central to Default and check what the result was.  Over the same area, the terrain seemed to be back to normal.  It seems that the SoCal install has somehow caused this lanclass issue just outside the bounds of the SoCal area.

I do believe..yes and yes.

I have since installed FTX Global Base and FTX Global Open Landclass NA - Alaska and Canada, and the problem seems to have disappeared.  Not sure if it was the limited Landclass that comes with Global Base that fixed it, but it seems to be fixed.

Cheers,
