Jon Clarke
ORBX seem to have the ability to have flags fluttering nicely with the wind in P3D but we don't seem to have the availability of the same functionality with windsocks at airfields with P3D. If orbx can have flags why can't we have working windsocks? Is this LM causing the problem or can orbx develop something that would work and we could add to our sceneries? Finni Hansen
Well, I can't speak for others, but I've made a custom, animated windsock for my airport. It is definitely doable : ) // Finni
Alex Goff
Totally different items, waving flags are just standard SDK compiled objects with animations. Rotation with wind and speed are controlled by ObjectFlow. We do the same with airport windsocks except for regions where all of the airports use FS9-compiled windsocks that (in FSX) react to windspeed and direction. There's still no great method for replacing regional use of FS9 socks in P3D except for mass use of ObjectFlow or the default P3D windsocks. So more accurately... We can have flags and animated working windsocks, we already do, but a method of mass placement and conversion of existing windsocks is not here yet. Jon Clarke
Thanks. Very informative and now I understand why it is probably not feasable.
