Dadtom65
Hi Everyone. Has all of the Orbx Items been converted for FSX Steam as I am having trouble with FSX and tried to do a FSX repair but seems my FSX discs might have given up the ghost, so might have to go over to the Steam version. Not much point buying another FSX disc as all ready have the steam version when it was in a sale but have not installed it yet. Cheer,s Derek. Mike62
Derek, as long as FSX is completely wiped from your system, the Orbx installers will automatically see the FSXSE directory and the FSX Orbx products work great in FSXSE. If FSX is not completly gone, youi will have issues. My hard drive died so I needed to do a new windows install also, so I decided to install SE at this time because FSX would not be present. Nick Cooper
There is a simple way to make the file structure of FSX Steam the same as FSX and thus the FTX installers recognise it. It works regardless of whether FSX or remains of it are on the PC. This pinned topic explains how to do it. A registry entry will need to be created also. The FSX Registry Utility from this page will do it for you.
Dadtom65
Hi thanks Nick and Mike. Trust me to say the wrong thing. I meant to say has all Orbx software got the triple installers now, but thanks both for your help. Derek.
Nick Cooper
A triple installer is not required to install into FSX Steam, did you mean P3D?
Dadtom65
Nick I thought there are now triple installers for FSX, FSX .Se and P3D so you can install into whatever FSX you have. Perhaps I have it wrong again. Derek
Nick Cooper
Derek, the triple installers are for FSX, P3D v1 and P3D v2. However, if you follow the two steps in my first post, you will be able to install all the products using the FSX installer.
Dadtom65
Hi Nick. Thanks for clarifying that. Just one more question, so you change the structure of steam FSX to be able to install Orbx products. Does that mean that you no longer need Steam to run FSX. Derek. Nick Cooper
No it doesn't. The file structure of Steam is one thing, the files structure of FSX Steam is another. The fix in my first post in this topic does not change the file structure of Steam or of the FSX folder to be found inside the Steam folder. What it does do is to make sure that the three external folders that FSX requires to work are named FSX and not FSX-SE. Have a read of the page in the link
