All of you are spot on. Indy fits all of those descriptions. Boxes are such a big deal, that for the last couple of years, I buy him actual cat furniture that is made out of boxes and recycled carboard...he loves them! There are little two story cardboard cat condos all over my house. Does help save on the actual furniture though, as he loves sharpening his claws on the cardboard. Still, when a package arrives, there is nothing better for him than an old fashioned box, no matter the size, just like Gerold said.

We have purchased a couple of cat beds over the years but a couple of 9 by 13 inch envelope boxes on a table by the window are still their favorite sleeping spots.

  2. Hi Ken:

We have two operating steam locomotives and actually operate them double headed during Railway Days in the summer. As operator agents we also hoop orders up to the trains when we are in the stations. Fortunately we have a couple of members of the telegraph club who worked for the local telephone company at one time so they keep the equipment operating. A lot of obscure technical details that we need to know to make it operate between stations.

That's the beauty of working in a Living History Museum.  You get to learn and do the old crafts, but you also learn the history, the social aspects.  You learn a lot, spend many, many hours in research, and then teach (show and tell) at least some of what you learn. In addition to the hat shop, I was the #2 blacksmith, worked on the farm, did the cider making in the Fall, and learned broom making, though I never practiced it.  Although as a man I never actually do cooking and food prep/ preservation I had to be knowledgeable about it so I can support those who actually do it.  That doesn't include programs like Decoration Day (1868) or Independance Day (various years). This was my second choice as a career, but it proved very rewarding.

I also spend a couple of days a week during the summer at Calgary's Heritage Park doing telegraphy. We have a circuit set up between 2 stations with a third available if we get enough people. Just learned the telegraph in the last 2 years but most of us are able to send and receive messages now. We also have one member and a couple of other mentors who worked on the railways as telegraph operators. We are in costume and explain the importance of the "Victorian Internet".

  4. High River Alberta. A number of years ago we bought a scenic flight around Calgary at a silent auction. After taking off from Springbank Airport we did touch and goes at Okotoks and High River. We did the touch and go on the North-South gravel runway at High River and it very interesting when the pilot realized how short it was. He turned the controls over to me and I flew most of the way back to Calgary International where he landed the plane. When developing the Global Freeware Airports, I asked the developer Vlad Maly for permission to use his models for this and his other 2 Calgary area airports (Claresholm and Airdrie). He had no problem and we often talked by e-mail about airport design. I always think of him when flying over these airports and occasionally recreate the flight of many years ago.

  5. This airport was done a long time ago probably by Neil Hill. I don't think Neil did any custom terminal buildings although he sometimes used existing objects to create something resembling the terminal. In this case the default was probably the best solution. What you are seeing is probably correct and the guid would be for the default building ( Not sure where these are located, we just let them remain when revising the airport although sometimes they were moved to the correct location.) The global freeware airports were created to better reflect the airport layouts and buildings but do not use custom created building in most cases, although I did do a few distinctive terminals for some of the airports I created.

  6. Definitely easier ti taxi with rudder pedals. The plane doesn't tilt as it will with auto connected  rudder and aileron. You can also steer using the toe brakes. They also allow you to straighten out the plane when landing at a bit of an angle.

  7. Sloped Runways were not supported in FSX or P3D to version 4. However some creative designers figured out ways of doing it but it involves some trickery. I know a few of the grass runways I did in the Global Freeware Airports are sloped but it is a bigger problem with hard surfaces. One nice example is Ketchikan which has sloped taxiways but the parking spots and gates are hard to designate as FSX tries to make the airport level. Both P3D v 5 and MSFS support sloped runways but it is not a trivial exercise as each intersection point on the runways and taxiways must have a set elevation. At larger airports this becomes a very time consuming job.

    Hello everyone...

i would be interested to know which airports (500+ new and upgraded ones are mentioned for true earth florida) are available in the miami area in acceptable quality.

I'm not asking specifically for the international airports. Since i prefer to fly GA and business jets between Florida and the Caribbean, the smaller airports, especially Miami Opa-Locka Executive Airport KOPF and Miami Kendall Executive Airport KTMB, would be of particular interest.

What quality can i expect (P3Dv4+ stock airport, Orbx light version, or better than that)?

If someone has the possibility to post some screenshots (from above; buildings) of the mentioned airports, i would be very happy about this decision support ;)

    Greetings

    Stefan

    Hi Stephan:

All the currently active airports were upgraded to a similar standard to the airports in the regions. A number of airports that have been deactivated/abandoned were also upgraded if they were still visible on the Photoreal scenery. These airport use generic hangers and include parked aircraft and some vehicles/clutter/and people. The photos by Rod show the quality of all the airports in Florida. Also in the Miami area one of my favorites is Miami Homestead.

Just a heads-up fellas.  I'm in the process of adding the 04/19 Update to my Google Earth kmz library and have discovered that Carlyle Airport's designator should be CJQ3, not CJQ5, which is Arnes Airport next door in Alberta.

Sorry about that it was my error when sending the list to Ed. Can"t read my own typing sometimes.

  10. All the airports in the regions (CRM and NRM) have been upgraded to the same standard as the global freeware airports. You can also try using them without Global base but the textures and land class may not match very well. The Orbx libraries are required as most of the objects on the airports are Orbx objects. The airports also are better with the Orbx Land Class.
