I use P3Dv4. I did have FSX on a previous computer but did not install on the new one I just got. P3D seems to work better than FSX with similar scenery. I also know how to create and modify airports for it and have a lot of scenery and planes so not a big incentive to change. I may try MSFS now that I have a computer that can handle it but am quite happy with the way P3D works especially with True Earth. I have considered version 5 but it is different enough to require a lot of work on the airports to make them compatible. I also like the 2D cockpit on the IFly 737 so changing to a virtual cockpit is not a big priority at the current time.

Also when the Regional sceneries came out all freeware was integrated into them so the global freeware would not cause a conflict with the regional scenery pack. You will not see any global freeware airports in any of the regions (except CYBW Springbank for some unknown reason).

No. I had a mobile until about 10 years ago. First got one in 1987. I had a great rate of about $8 a month. When my provider decided it need to charge $20 I cancelled service as I had only used the phone about 3 times in the previous year. I currently have one of my wife's old smart phones which I use as a camera and Wi-Fi terminal (Navigraph Charts) but am happy not to be tethered to the thing like so many others. My wife has a smart phone so we can use it when travelling.

I should have remembered the paved runway at Courcheval. Slope looks similar though.

Pacific Coast from Washington up to Alaska. Great scenery and can be challenging with real world weather.

The airports were done by a number of developers over a few years. Some have more detail which would affect frame rates. Larger more complex airports also can create problems because of the number of objects to be rendered. Library objects are particularly bad and some of them will affect the frame rates more than others. As most of the designers are no longer producing airports there probably no way of fixing except by disabling airports that cause problems. If either of these were my airports I could have a look at them but I do not know if the original airport creation files are even available anymore.

Instant Scenery files were placed using FSX but will work fine in P3Dv4 and 5 as the BGL files work the same. You need to have scenery objects with the same GUID in libraries for both simulators or the objects will not display. Most of the default and Orbx objects are the same in both.

We used it to do True Earth Florida and seemed to work fine.

If it works that's great. It depends what Orbx sceneries you are using. Vector usually causes problems with UTX and Open Land Class does the same as UTX for terrain files. I have had both installed for different areas but got duplicate roads when they were in the same place. If you have problems you can always move the files up or down and see what happens.

Because they both do the same thing, I would have one or the other but not both. You could try UTX below Orbx but may still get some conflicts.

A,C,D,E,F,G - IMHO, nothing beats the Mooney M20M Bravo. One caveat for A, I don't land on unpaved runways. For B I have to vote for RMS Queen Mary (1-the old one). Unfortunately she's a deteriorating hotel/museum in Long Beach CA. How are the mighty fallen! Another choice for B, if flying is the only option, would be an airship like the Hindenburg, but with helium and modern carbon fiber technology. Or an SST like the Concord, if even remotely affordable. Or one of the luxurious classics from the days when long flights were made comfortable by good service and good food, like the Connie or the DC7- 7 Seas. My favorite Mooney can't do it, and even if it could, I couldn't endure it. Based on my limited transatlantic experience, all other options are forbidden by the Constitution as "cruel and unusual punishment.". If getting there isn't at least half the fun, I'm not going.
Ken
Have to agree with Ken. The Mooney is great. I have one with ferry tanks so can do longer flights. As for B, too bad you said nonstop or I would have gone with the Mooney too. If nonstop I would have to go with the Concorde.

I've always had trouble with turbo-props. Seem overly complicated compared to straight jets. I've flown the Cessna Caravan some but have avoided King Airs for this reason. Don't have too much trouble with 737's which are the most common larger planes I fly.

Having done a lot of airports, I think the static planes provide a bit of life and visual interest, especially at smaller airports. I agree they probably should not be used at commercial gates and if users have a good ai aircraft program there will be enough aircraft at these gates. Any airports I have done do not have any static aircraft at designated parking spots. The smaller airports often have aircraft parked that only are used occasionally and the use of static aircraft adds to these airports. When designing airports I have always placed static aircraft where they exist in real life to provide the correct number of aircraft at most airports. As they do not require the ai program they provide aircraft without using a lot of system resources. There have always been a few complaints about this but not a lot and I know many of the new Orbx sceneries do allow users to remove the static aircraft. Also another reason to include some at smaller strips is so pilots flying can identify some of the smaller fields especially where using Photoreal scenery. Some of these airports are very difficult to see and airplanes on the ground help.

Very difficult. I fly the Mooney Bravo a lot as it is good for sight-seeing but if I could only have one it would have to be a 737 - currently I fly the I-Fly version but have also used PMDG's previously.

Barrow is included in Global Freeware Airport Pack. You can delete those files from the Orbx/FTX_GLOBAL/FTX_FTXG_Airports/Scenery file. There should be 4 files:
ADE_FTX_FTXG_PABR.bgl
ADE_FTX_FTXG_PABR_CVX.bgl
FTX_FTXG_PABR_objects.bgl
FTX_FTXG_PABR_lib.bgl
If you change the bgl to xxx or off the files will not display and you can restore them.
If you do not have Global Freeware airports you should just be able to add an airport and place it abpve the default files and it should display.
If you don't have Global Freeware you should give it a try - Many airport and they work well in P3Dv4.

Usually use live weather, but if I am just sight seeing in a small plane I will turn off live weather and fly under clear skies. If the weather is reasonably clear I leave the live weather on all the time. When flying the 737 I always use live weather - you can always do a Cat III landing if you need to.
