Any recent update on ESSA Marcus since your last post back in October last year?
Do we dare to hope 2023 will be the year when we got a proper ESSA in MSFS ?
-
Fully appreciate that Nick and sounds great this issue will soon be a thing of the past.

That's interesting to hear but I would assume a seasoned developer as Orbx would already know of this but for whatever reason decided to use a different method. Since they have airports where the static aircraft indeed is static in a way where they can't be removed. Not even by Orbx themselves. Such as in the case with LOWI.
I know nothing about scenery development but as I understand it, the absolutely best way to implement static aircraft if you feel the need for it is to use the method where the static aircraft you add to you scenery will automatically be removed if the user make sure to have the slider in MSFS for aircraft on the ground set all the way to the left (0).
Using that method, any user can decide not only if they want static aircraft or not but also the amount of them. Also, without having to use any special setting or control panel for static aircraft provided by the developer.
Seems like a win-win method to me. The developer can add the static aircraft for those who like it but at the same time, those who don't want them can simply use the slider in MSFS to adjust the amount of static aircraft. The only downside I can see using this method is if you want static aircraft at one airport but not at another airport. Since the slider in MSFS of course is global and regardless of what airport you're at.
Well, let's keep our fingers crossed this eventually will be a non-issue going forward with new products released.

You're on a mission to remove static aircraft but you decide to leave two of them in and still with no option for the user to disable them.
Sorry but I just don't get it.

Got it Nick and makes sense what you say.
Maybe an option could be added to Orbx Central where you can manually choose any airports you want to hide from the list?
-
Is there any way for me to remove airports from my products list in Orbx Central I no longer use?
Below is an example of some freeware airports/products I've tried out in the past which I no longer use. Marked in red in the screenshot below. Would be nice if I could somehow remove these from the list. To make sure I only see those airports I'm actually interested in and use these days.

Thanks for this update for EGNM Orbx, much appreciated!

Got it, I hope you're right and how this issue will go away from now on.

I fully get how this is a personal thing where we all have different needs and preferences. The problem with this particular "issue" is its practical impact on using the products. When you don't like how a certain thing look but where others think it looks awesome, that won't stop you from using the product. In this case however when you're flying online and you're asked by ATC to park at a certain gate which is already occupied by an aircraft statue, this means you'll have to ask ATC for another gate. There's also a visual impact when you often see online traffic parked on top of these statues.
I guess what I'm hoping for is that we'll one day see developers in general realize how adding the option to remove static aircraft is a given for any airport they develop. If/when they decide to add these. For this to happen (if it ever will), I think the more these things are discussed be it in here or elsewhere, that will improve the chances seeing it happen.
At this point, I feel I've done what I can in here.

Just tried using the Support button for this product in Orbx Central...
...which took me to this page.
Looks like there's room for improvement.
-
Of course I can reach out to them but I think it would be more effective if Orbx had this discussion with the developers they publish.
After all, I bought this product from Orbx and not GAYA.
Also, I think it makes sense and hopefully will even be helpful to have a summary of the airports where this is a problem.
-
LIRQ - Florence Airport
And another one and again, a small airport and this time with three big airliners occupying some of the few available parking stands as seen below. My aircraft in the foreground, the others...aircraft statues with no option to remove them.
-
ENTO - Sandefjord Airport
Another airport to add to the list with static aircraft which can't be disabled. In this case, even a big airliner is occupying one of the main gates at this rather small airport. Really bad for all of us flying online!
So once again, please pretty please Orbx, prioritize going through your airports and add the option to get rid of these statues looking like aircraft.

I fully understand that. What Orbx as a company could do is to verify products sold via Orbx Direct have this option from start.
Great to hear about LOWW!
-
Thanks Ed, what you say is very positive!
As for already existing airports with this "need" to have an option added to remove static aircraft, I think it's a number of airports to be honest. Below is a list of the airports I currently bought from you guys. As you can see, I don't have all of them installed yet. Bought 13 new airports during the Black Friday sale. Don't recall from my top of the head exactly what airports still have static aircraft which can't be removed but I'm sure there are multiple. And that is without even having had time to check all my new 13 airports yet.
2 examples I come to think of is LOWW and LIRQ. For LOWW, I know for a fact there are static aircraft there. Managed to get rid of most of them by using a remove static aircraft file someone was kind enough to share. For LIRQ, I haven't checked that airport out yet but remember how someone told me in the past that scenery also comes with static aircraft models. Or maybe that one already have the option to have them removed? EGNM is another example as you mention.
Anyway, great again to hear what you say and how we might hopefully one day see an option for all airports from you having an option to have these static aircraft models removed. Where I hope all developers will follow that path eventually.

Could we have a comment from someone on the Orbx team what your plans are regarding this, can we expect you to add an option to remove static aircraft for those airports where they are now built-in or will you just leave this request unanswered?

Glad to hear you enjoy it thanks!
Oh, no, sorry, nothing has been added outside the airport so the construction etc is still as in previous version sadly.
Ok, got it. Maybe next time

Just wanted to say thanks @Marcus Nyberg for the Bromma update! Now it feels perfect, really appreciate the support and adding the interior, it's done to a fantastic standard too!
Sounds great and can't wait to find the time checking out the new update myself. Bromma is only a 15 mins drive from where I live. So always very cool to fly in and out of Bromma and recognize all things down on the ground
Guess I'll see for myself when I try it out but has the ICA Maxi building next to the airport been finished now also in the scenery in the same way it has IRL?

I was just about to see if I could find any updates on this myself when I found this post.
Tonight, I was flying into LOWI which is an amazing airport in so many ways! One of my favorite airports to fly to. However, after you landed and see all the static aircraft occupying the already very small apron and few parking spots where other online Vatsim aircraft are standing on top of the static aircraft models, that I'm sorry to say takes away much of the charm flying into this otherwise so beautiful airport.
So please Orbx, now when we recently saw how you added the possibility to disable static aircraft models at ESMS. In the same way that option already was there for ESSB for example, please please, pretty please continue doing the same for the remaining airports such as LOWI.
