Too bad, if not I would have bought this scenery which looks really nice.
Thanks for confirming.

Noticed in a YT clip how this airport comes with static aircraft models.
Can these be removed or are they the same built-in statues as in Innsbruck and Vienna to pick 2 examples?
-
Sounds good, thanks.
How do you like the airport in general, would you recommend it?
-
Does someone in here know if there are any static aircraft models in the Split airport scenery and if yes, can they be disabled?

Tonight, I flew into LOWW online on Vatsim and arriving into the airport, I noticed how there lots and lots of static aircraft models. I found this old post on the same topic where the last reply was from Jan 2021.
Please, please pretty please Orbx, invest some time into adding the functionality to remove these static models from your airports. Especially the larger ones with airliner traffic. For a small airstrip somewhere in the middle of nowhere, I guess having a static aircraft model as part of the scenery could help giving the scenery the right "feeling". For bigger airports though such as LOWW in this case (but also LOWI, EGNM, ESMS, ESGG to mention a few...), having these static models which can't be removed ruins quite a bit of the feeling when flying online.
Since moving permanently to MSFS and while waiting for the PMDG 737, I have mostly "played around" using default airports. Now with the PMDG 737 just around the corner, I'm planning to buy lots of payware airports. However, I won't buy a single airport no matter how nice it looks if it comes with static aircraft models which can't be removed if I so wish. This goes both for your products as well as any other airport scenery developer's products.
After searching on this topic, I've found numerous threads spread over the various flight sim forums. Where people just like me are looking for a method to get rid of these "statues". So with all this said, I really do hope you'll take this into consideration going forward. And hopefully also do something about already released products. To allow people to choose for themselves if they want these models or not.

Wow, that's awesome!
-
That's a shame but thanks for confirming and I'll keep my fingers crossed this option can be added in future updates.
-
At the top of my list is ESSA Stockholm-Arlanda.
I never really understood why this airport doesn't get more love from scenery developers in general. It's one of the biggest airports in Scandinavia and heavily used both IRL as well as in our simulated world.
-
As the topic suggest, which of your already existing Norwegian airports have the config option where you can disable static aircraft?
I'm considering buying a number of them but only those where I can get rid of the static aircraft models. This since I do all my flying online on Vatsim and prefer "real" aircraft over "statues".
Thanks in advance.
-
Well, at this time you'll have those statics regardless where you bought the product from. This until it's addressed by adding the same option already in place for ESSB for example.
I hope this will be fixed in a not too distant future.

Thanks for the additional insight and good for me I bought my Orbx products directly from you and not from the Marketplace.

Looking forward to that Marcus and thanks for letting us know the current lack of this option has nothing to do with the SDK for MSFS nor the situation being complicated.

27 minutes ago, John Dow said:
I think the SDK for MSFS is not yet developed enough to give developers this option. When it becomes something that can be implemented without causing other problems at airfields I'm sure the developers will not hesitate to include it as an option.
That would have made sense but the option is already there for your ESSB MS2020 scenery. So that can't be it.
-
Thanks for confirming and quite honestly, I fail to understand how we still in 2022 need to ask for an option to remove static aircraft from airport scenery. This has been an issue for so many years for us flying online and surely, it can't be that much extra work for the developer to add this kind of option.
Going forward, I hope we'll see this option included as standard for any new airport scenery.
-
As the title suggests, how can I remove the static aircraft in the ESMS airport scenery when flying online on Vatsim?
-
Happy I found this because I was just about to report the same issue.
Wouldn't it be good if the installation process of Orbx LOWI automatically disabled the Asobo version of LOWI? When you know about this issue. By simply replacing true with false as suggested in Content.xml

That's great you got it sorted and as for switching to DX10 that is the best thing I did in a long time for FSX. Once properly set up it looks really good and haven't had one single OOM issue running in DX10 mode.

That's weird Neil and fact is I don't think reinstalling NI will do any good since the profile list is populated when installing the Nvidia drivers as I've understood it.
-
When you install the Nvidia drivers you should find an entry called MS Flight Simulator X if I recall correctly.

That's the sort of thing a friend if mine used to say. My favourite (of his) is: "I used to be a virile hunk - now I'm just a sterile lump!".

I just had probably the best looking and most smooth FSX ride I ever had in the NGX!
My FPS didn't really increase (usually stays between 30-50 on the ground inside the v/c and between 40-60 airborne in the v/c and I had the same values on this flight) but the overall smoothness and the sharp ground textures especially when getting close to the ground...never seen it this good before.
Not sure what's behind this because yesterday I did three things - I upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers (340.52), I changed a couple of settings in NI after looking through the new version of the DX10 setup guide and finally I did one change to fsx.cfg.
The values/settings I changed in NI were these:
Gamma Correction ON->OFF
Texture filtering - LOD Bias (DX) 1.5->1.0
Maximum pre-rendered frames 1->3
The only thing I changed in fsx.cfg was to remove the following setting:
DisablePreload=1
Just thought I would share my joy with you guys
I video captured the last segment of the approach into Helsinki and uploaded it to YouTube here. Unfortunately I always get a bit of stuttering in my YouTube videos compared to what I see in real time in FSX but I think this clip will still show at least how good and sharp the ground textures look on short final.
Maybe this is how most of you already see things in FSX, what do I know but one thing I do know is I can't wait to do next flight later today because this sharp and smooth look definitely is new to me

Let me join in by saying thanks a lot Adam for your great contribution to our hobby! Reading a thead like this one where people sharing the same interest help each other out always put a big smile on my face!
Was just about to come in here asking for the best/recommended DX10 SF settings when using FTX Global products such as FTX Global itself but also Vector and openLC Europe but after finding this thread I'll start by checking out the guide instead
Stockholm-Arlanda (ESSA) for MSFS

Hello Orbx,
I heard some time ago you started working on ESSA for MSFS and was just wondering how it's coming along so far?
