  1. I recently flew back from Adelaide, and stopped by the new Vickers Vimy exhibit at Adelaide Airport to see it.  It's a great display, with lots of audio and video playing, and interactive information screens.  They moved it from the external display which used to be located near the staff car park, and have moved it inside, easily accessible from the terminal and located just behind the Atura Hotel.  Such an impressive machine to see up close, but I just cannot imagine how those four brave men flew it around the world!

  2. Not sure why Ken, but I have also been simming way less than I did previously since about late 2021.  I am sad to say I have actually lost interest a bit.  I am confident I will regain some interest in simming and aviation in general, but I guess I just started doing other things in my life.  I think in my case I just wanted to mix it up a bit so started playing some other games.  With a very busy work schedule over the last few years, playing other games, and doing other activities, it just left little time for simming.  For the past year I've actaully struggled to even start up a sim.  I used to get hours upon hours of relaxation and enjoyment flying, as well as the enjoyment and satisfaction of learning about the world and aviation through simming, so I'm sure I'll get back in to it eventually.

Thanks for that. Can you perhaps comment on FPS and stutters, do you think it's running smoothly? Asking because some previous airport offerings from Impulse had not been well optimised for performance.

I have also only flown around in light aircraft and looked around with the drone camera so far, but they have been very smooth.  No stutters at all on my system.

One of the best representations of an airport I've ever seen. You'd be hard pressed to find any detail across the entire airport that isn't included. No more airbidges in the middle of the tarmac!

How good is it!  I was surprised to see this too, i had no idea it was being made.  Saw it last night and grabbed it instantly.  Having visited the airport a few times i can agree it's an awesome job.

  5. Great stuff!

I was just recently watching the Milviz (Blackbird Simulations) video where the developers were discussing the shaking of the throttle levers and also the gauge needles on the Beaver.  It was a really interesting video, as they usually are.

You can try tagging them in a post.  Either this post or a new one in general discussion.  You can use the "@"symbol to tag somone.  Then that person could private message you.

    Thanks Scott.

I currently have a laptop on my desk next to my pc. When I was using P3D, I had it linked to my pc for FS-Flight Control. Then, for a couple of years, I flew very little. So, the laptop was idle.

I decided to purchase MSFS last year and changed my pc. This year I have been 'learning' MSFS and buying far too many aircraft and scenery (Orbx of course)!

If I get Navigraph, where should I install it - new pc/laptop? Also, is there a best way to connect the pc to the laptop?

Any suggestions would be welcomed and appreciated.

    Thanks

    Paul

When you go to the Navigraph website, there is a tab at the top right called "Downloads"  here you'll find al the installers for what you need to install.  In general just install Navigraph charts on to any device you want to use it on.  I have it installed on my PC, laptop, and phone.  You could also just install it on your laptop if that's the only place you want to look at charts.  Then there is a little program called Simlink, and this needs to be installed on to the PC where your flightsim is installed, and on the laptop where Navigraph Charts is installed.  Simlink is what connects the two devices so you can see your aircraft on the moving map, charts, diagrams etc.  You can actually see your aircraft symbol on certain charts such as airport/taxi diagram, SID/STAR charts, etc, or on the VFR or IFR map.  Navigraph also has FMS update options, depending on which supscription you want to get, that will update FMS navigation databases for aircraft like PMDG 737, FS Labs A320, and many more aircraft and programs, like VOXATC, Active Sky etc etc.

I think if you want a subscription for Navigraph charts really depends on if you use charts much.  You can get free VFR moving map programs like Little Nav Map and others, so the difference for Navigraph is mainly the FMS updates (if you choose that) and the frequently updated charts.

  8. Hi Paul,

Yes you can also run Navigraph Charts on a separate device at the same time, and the moving map will work.  It will work on a separate laptop, tablet or even phone, as long as they are connected to the internet.

  9. RIP TeeCee.

That is really sad news.  Terry was very generous with his time, sharing general info and files with me, and was very welcoming when I first started flightsimming and joined OzX back around 2010.  He was a genuinely helpful, generous, caring, funny guy and was at the same time not afraid to speak his mind, and did so on the forums on many occasions.

    You will be missed Terry.

    Condolences to his family.

  10. As Joe says, there is no doubt that DRM is an ongoing conversation behind closed doors of most developers and publishers.  IMO there needs to be a balance between DRM and user freedom and ease of use, and for the most part I think most current devs and publishers strike that balance well.  There are some devs I can think of that got it wrong, going too heavy on DRM, and as a result their products became a PITA to install and reinstall and people would refuse to buy their products ever again, even when the addons themselves were superb.  I bought an aircraft from Simmarket, mainly to support a new developer, but after adding a new M2 drive to my PC I have never been able to reinstall that aircraft again due to heavy DRM that apparently had one activation.
