There's also another annoying small gap between the Fjords and Southern Alaska.

The gap you are refering to is covered by Tongass Fjords, a project created by Holger Sandmann and Bill Womack, it is available for free at Return to Misty Moorings

Maybe this pic will be of some assistance to you.

  2. Hello Rhys

You did not have to remove any files, if you downloaded the NZAD.rar and extract it to an empty folder on your desktop you will see it contains a folder NZAD, copy that folder into your FSX - Addons folder, then start FSX, at the flight screen select Settings - Scenery Library, once that is open Select AddArea, point to the NZAD in your Addons folder, click OK to add it, Ok to let FSX load up, now you should see the same as me.

    x mark's the spot

    Hello Rhys

Trusting you had a good Christmas.

Using the position you placed a cross these are the trees I see, not the same as your pic, but using my technique or Holgers = Autogen trees on landclass tiles: requires autogen exclusion polygon they are gone, but in both cases caution needs to be exercised, I just marked an area which is fatal viewed from overhead.

I think the last pic shows a much better position for a small airfield, it is fairly level so your initial flatten will cause very little disruption.

So I'm running into issues with my scenery in FSX

Hello Zylx, as you have found it is not possible to have photo scenery in FSX, only Landscape scenery, just as you cannot use a library it all has to go into the FSX folder, as I explained to you previously, photo scenery will always override landscape scenery. Dont forget that FSX is a 32bit program limited to 3.5 - 4gb of vram so if you could run photo scenery it would eat up available resources quicker.

I did install to a library.

You are welcome Zylx, the great thing with P3D is that if virtually everything is installed into the sim and you wish to upgrade to a new version you only uninstall P3D, everything else remains in the folder, aircraft, scenery etc, you then install the new version, run it up to the flight screen and close it, Sync Simulator in Orbx Central and away you go, Nick has supplied an excellent guide, but some software Object Flow and some 3rd party has to go in a library.

I just use the library in the sims.

My apologies Zylx, I forgot that if you install into a Library, Orbx uses the .xml method.

In which case so long as you have followed the Insertion Points Orbx Central will be sorted.

I don't think it matters the order they are shown in your picture, unlike if they are installed into the simulator where the scenery.cfg would have to be correct.

Your photo scenery will always be the one displayed above landclass, does the sim look and run OK ?

    why is that?

Looking at your picture most of your scenery has been added by the by the .xml method, a 3rd party software eg: Lorbi-Si Addon Manager amongst others would allow you to move them in your scenery config.

Photo scenery always takes precedent over Landscape scenery.

Once you have set the scenery.cfg to your liking, check in Insertion Points that it is as above, then run Help-Sync Simulator.
