hammerman47
Hi I have tried to install my ORBX products on the steam version of FSX and all I get is this: Radio Buttons> On Next, Line 10: Argument 2 must be of type string.Stack Traceback1: [Radio Buttons > On Line:10 in main chunk I cannot see anything related to the steam version in the updates and am at a loss as to what to do next. I have read that others are installing ORBX products without any issues. I only have the FSX Steam version installed on my system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Museumkeeper
Hi It does not matter if you only have FSX-Steam Edition installed on your computer. If you have ever had FSX Box edition installed on your computer, no matter when, it will have left its calling card on your registry and this is preventing a proper install of FSX-SE. Run a registry cleaner such as http://www.tweakfs.com/store/free_tools.php or http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library or similar and try again Kind regards Ian
hammerman47
Hi one of the links does not work and the other sends me to a page with a FSX registry utility which was quite unhelpful, however I went into the registry and deleted any reference to my previous FSX installation on my C: drive (I installed the steam edition on my H: drive) After completion wich took ages doing it manually I tried to run the ORBX Global installer again and came up with the same error message. Thanks for your suggestion but still have the same issue. Cheers Neil B
Nick Cooper
This topic explains the radio buttons error. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/72243-radio-buttons-error-message-during-install/ You can use this tool to create the correct registry entry http://www.tweakfs.com/store/free_tools.php If your copy of FSX-SE has created external folders named FSX-SE, the solution is here. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/93155-cant-get-orbx-to-work-with-fsx-se/#entry847348
hammerman47
Thank you Nick, Ian was correct in his suggestion but I did not understand the 'set key' function of the software package : FSX Registry Utility. After reading your information I set the program path and it seems to have installed 'Global'. I will try and install my other ORBX products and then run FSX Steam. I will post my results here. I appreciate your excellent suggestions. Thanks again Neil B Hmmm. I am now getting a screen with : FTXConfigurator - Unable to locate the scenery.cfg file I can see what looks like a scenery.cfg in the 'Steam/steamapps/common/FSX' folder....... (do I need to set another path?) Not sure how to fix this as it happens even when I tried to install the ORBXLIBS Stummped again Thanks Neil B
Nick Cooper
The scenery.cfg file is in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX If you had remnants of FSX left on your PC, FSX_SE will very likely have created folders named FSX-SE instead. The FTX products will be looking for a folder named FSX. To correct this permanently, you will need to first confirm that the folder is called FSX-SE and then follow the guide in my third suggestion above, applying it to all three external folders.
