curt1
I was directed here by another user. I just downloaded and installed Diamond Point last night, and love it except for the excessive updrafts. I can land almost anywhere, but after an hour last night I gave up. With full flaps and no power, I was climbing at 800 ft. per minute over the runway. Any help would be appreciated.
GlennH
I think there is a specific 'thermal descriptions xml' file in the scenery for 2WA1. You might try disabling it if you find it too much. I have been hit with this here too. Its quite something!
Wolter van der Spoel
go to => ....\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ORBX\FTX_NA\FTX_AA_2WA1 rename the extension on the ThermalDescriptions from .xml to .OFF and gone should be them winds
TymK
Thanks Wolter! I didn't know there's that file in the product's directory when I originally replied to Curt's post in the other thread. The old installer automatically backed up the default file and replaced it with the modified one, I thought it was omitted altogether. If I may clarify the procedure, what you need to do is: 1. Rename the original in the FSX root directory (just to keep it as a backup). 2. Copy the amended one from "...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ORBX\FTX_NA\FTX_AA_2WA1" to the FSX root directory. Wolter van der Spoel
you can move that file to where the fsX one is make sure to backup the original first !! or just disable it by changing the extension to .off
curt1
Thank you very much! That took care of it, and all is well now.
curt1
In case anyone else has this (just to clarify), my success was in regards to Tym's comment above. Renaming the .xml file in the Orbx folder didn't stop the problem, but Tym's simple two step process was the cure.
